Dierks Bentley - "Am I The Only One" - Single Review by Roughstock

Dierks Bentley - "Am I The Only One"

By: Matt Bjorke

Well spring is officially here but country music programmers are already getting music perfectly suited for the summertime with singles coming to country radio that are perfectly suited for being played with the windows rolled down and you proudly and gleefully singing along (albeit badly). At least that’s the hope that artists, labels and radio hope for when releasing these type of songs. After a rootsy detour with the artistically satisfying Up On The Ridge album, Dierks Bentley returns with a rockin, T-Shirt ready tune that recalls his career-starting tune “What Was I Thinkin’.”

Written By Dierks with Jim Beavers and co-producer Jon Randall, “Am I The Only One” finds Dierks completely in honky tonkin’ mode with a light-hearted party anthem that is certain to become the new radio quittin’ time anthem. The lyrics aren’t meant to be deepand they aren’t (they deal with a man who wants to go out for a good time but his buddies don’t) but in terms of a fun country rocker that anyone – guy or girl – can relate too, Dierks certainly has a winner on his hands with “Am I The Only One.”

While there will be some people who hate this song (likely those who loved “Ridge” but disliked “Feel That fire” or “Sideways”), there are likely to be a lot more people who really, really like this song. As an identifiable radio star, Dierks Bentley is likely to easily score a sizeable radio hit and could even get a Gold or Platinum-selling digital single out of this tune as well.
