That was...awesome!

You all may remember Dierks' reference to the movie 'Tommy Boy' on Twitter when he heard about his 3 CMA nominations for this year, but he recently called into CMT Radio Live with Cody Alan and expanded more on what went through his mind that morning.



And just so you know Dierks, those of us in our 20's do know the amazingness that is Tommy Boy. "Fat guy in a little coat." ;)

'Giant' Congrats to Dierks From Illinois & Wisconsin DB Congress Reps!

When all the northern IL and southern WI DB Congress Representatives heard Dierks Bentley was coming to Rockford, IL to open On the Waterfront September 2, they were ready to go!

According to Kristin, a dedicatd DBC Illinois rep, she and her boyfriend Dave made the 45 minute drive up to Rockford from Dekalb. "We were pumped to meet up with our DB Congress friends in Rockford! As soon as we got there we met up with my mom Sue, Dad Steve, Stacy, Roseann, Karen, Alicia, Mary, Jenny, and Heather! A few of us spotted Dierks' jeep out front and got a group picture in front of it!

We signed a big card Karen got for Dierks [to congratulate him on] getting 3 CMA nods! Dave, Stacy, Karen and Alicia went off to their M&G with Dierks while the rest of us headed into the venue. Karen said she gave the card to Dierks and he said he would bring it on stage with him!

About an hour before Dierks' set, it started to rain! Not good! But the show still went on! Dave and I both had front row spots along with Stacy, Roseann, Karen and Mary. Dierks came on around 9 or 9:30 after the rain stopped. He put on an awesome show! Pretty much the same setlist he had for Richland Center in Wisconsin, but with the addition of a new fiddle player [Dan Hochhalter] he added "Fiddlin' Around" to the setlist.

Before he played Long Trip Alone, he brought out the card Karen gave him and read it to the crowd. Later that night he tweeted a sideview picture of himself holding up the card and asked if it was big enough! He thanked all of his fan club members for supporting him and dedicated the song to us.



Amazing show! Can't wait for the next one of course--Miles and Music in Nashville!"

Dierks must have been really impressed with the giant card, because he was still talking about it the next night at the Florence, Kentucky show!

"Draw me a Map" Sees Healthy Chart Jump

In its second week on the chart, Dierks Bentley's "Draw me a Map" jumped a healthy 16 spots on the Billboard chart to come in at #44 this week, with an audience gain of just under 700,000. On Mediabase, it made its official debut at #48 (up from #66 last week). The smaller-market charts continue to outpace their "big brothers," though: on Billboard's Indicator chart it moved 3 spots to #34, and on Mediabase's Activator chart it's up to #35 from #46 last week.

7 new Mediabase-panel stations added "Draw me a Map" this week, and 15 Billboard Indicator stations added it as well. It looks like adds will continue to be fairly modest, but if it sees audience growth similar to this past week, it's quite possible our Prez will have a Top 40 song on his hands, which should get it some more adds and growth, and more Congress members should be able to hear it and thank their local stations!

Keep up the great work, Congress! I know you're creating that demand and asking for the song. Hopefully some CMA nominations tomorrow will help prompt some unexpected adds and plays this week!

Will Dierks Announce His Own CMA Nod?

With a critically acclaimed new album, Dierks Bentley just may finally get the recognition he deserves at the CMA Awards November 10th. But first he's got to be nominated.

Maybe he'll announce himself when Dierks and Miranda Lambert announce the final nominees on Wednesday, September 1, in five CMA Awards categories live from ABC’s Good Morning America studios in New York City’s Times Square. The announcement will air in the 8:30 AM/ET half-hour segment of the morning news program.

But “Country Music’s Biggest Morning” is too big for one day! The CMA announced today that the final nominees for The 44th Annual CMA Awards will be announced over two mornings, from two cities.

Or, maybe, Justin Moore and Chris Young will announce Dierks as an Album of the Year nominee, when they read the finalists in seven CMA Awards categories from Nashville at a press conference at the historic Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday, August 31.

CMT Insider Special Edition: 2010 CMA Awards Nominations featuring in-depth coverage of all the nominations, artist interviews, and more, will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 1 (11:00 AM/ET).

“The CMA Awards final nominations are the most anticipated annual announcements in Country Music,” said Steve Moore, CMA Chairman of the Board. “By making the announcements over two days, we hope to focus even more attention on all the deserving nominees and their accomplishments.”

The 44th Annual CMA Awards known as “Country Music’s Biggest Night,” will be broadcast live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville Wednesday, Nov. 10 (8:00-11:00 PM ET) on ABC.

NO CMA AWARD NODS FOR DIERKS

Sadness, disappointment, anger, disbelief, shock. These are not emotions I experience when I listen to Dierks Bentley's music. But when the CMA Awards nominations were announced yesterday, and Dierks was not among them, I was feeling all those things and more!

What I don't understand is how Dierks can accomplish all he has in the last year--a #1 album, two consecutive #1 songs, a sucessful tour supporting Brad Paisley, the second most played artist on the radio (Keith Urban was #1), two Country Weekly covers, a CMT Music Award (Country Boy w/AJ, GS & BP), the CMT International Artist Achievement Award, an American Songwriter magazine cover, performed Beautiful World at the Nobel Peace Prize concert and much, much more--and still be over-looked by the Country Music Association!

I just don't understand how they can not recognize Dierks' extraordinary talent in songwriting, and vocals that seep deep into a person's soul! His lyrics, music, and voice give me great joy and happiness--makes me dance and sing out loud--not to mention travel thousands of miles a year to see his live performance!

So, maybe somebody can tell me--what was the CMA thinkin'? I mean, out of six possibilities, not one nod? That's just not right! He deserves to be in the top five.

I know most of you agree with me, but if anyone can enlighten me on this strange rationale, please leave a comment! Apparently, I am missing something! Oh, I know, the typical response may be, "it's policital," but I need more than that!
