With “Gone,” Dierks Bentley is Back!

All day long, all day long, I’ve been sitting on the couch watching Dierks Bentley all day long!

In Dierks’ new single releasing today (10/22/20) at noon EST on radio, he may sing a lot about being “Gone,” but he’s definitely back! The melody is catchy and the lyrics are cleverly written by Nicolle  Galyon, Ben Johnson and Niko Moon and produced by David Garcia.

On The Bobby Bones show this morning, Bobby asked Dierks if this was a new producer after playing a clip of "Gone."

"That's good ears! I think every album you want to make it feel like the first time.  I was looking to be inspired, writing with Hardy and David Garcia, having so much fun writing with them and just enjoyed it and really got to know David well. I'm always trying to make it feel new. There's this main theme in all my music which is trying to mix bluegrass with the kickass, trying to mix the dobro and banjo with big guitars and big drums--always trying to find a way to do that better.  So I love what David does, he produced and wrote "Meant To Be" for Florida Georgia Line and he has that sensibility like Ross Copperman does, and taking what I know--the banjo, dobro and fiddle and incorporate those two sounds, so it sounds new to me.  The fact that you [Bobby] picked up on that means the world to me because I'm trying to tweak it a little. I don't want to do the same thing every time."

His buddies, boss, momma and neighbors all think he’s the physical kind of gone, but it’s his mind that’s missing after a breakup, “trying to figure out how a good thing went wrong.”  But it’s Bentley’s heartbreakingly poignant vocal that takes the break-up song to a sadder than a “Say You Do” country song low.

When we first heard it ‘live’ on the online fan wall of the iHeartCountry festival, “Gone” was not leaving our ears, all up in our heads for weeks! We were hooked on that piano intro!

Time to do your duty, DB Congress reps! After you hear it on radio today, start requesting the song through your local country radio DJs.

Listen or download now!

My buddies think I’m on the lake

Boss thinks I’ve been sick for days

Momma’s probably on her way

Cause I ain’t picked up the phone

I’ve been a million places but they’re all up in my head

Over drinkin’ over thinkin ever since you left

I’ve been gone, I’ve been gone

I’ve been sitting on the couch watching tv all day long, all day long

I’ve been trying to figure how a good thing went wrong

Faster than that freight train

Farther than that airplane

Sadder than a country song

Headed down that highway

Anywhere but my way

Ever since you moved on

I’ve been gone

Took a trip down memory lane

Checked into hotel heartbreak

Passed rock bottom all the way

Without leaving my living room

I’ve been a million places but they’re all up in my head

Over drinkin’ over thinkin ever since you left

I’ve been gone, I’ve been gone

I’ve been sitting on the couch watching tv all day long, all day long

I’ve been trying to figure out how a good thing went wrong

Faster than that freight train

Farther than that airplane

Sadder than a country song

Headed down that highway

Anywhere but my way

Ever since you moved on

I’ve been gone

Yeah, I’ve been gone

All the clothes are on the floor

All the mail is by the door

All the whiskey bottles in my bed

All the dishes in the sink

All the gas is in the tank

All the neighbors probably think I’m dead

I’ve been gone, I’ve been gone

I’ve been sitting on the couch watching tv all day long, all day long

I’ve been trying to figure out how a good thing went wrong

Faster than that freight train

Farther than that airplane

Sadder than a country song

Headed down that highway

Anywhere but my way

Ever since you moved on

I’ve been gone

Yeah, I’ve been gone

Gone

"Living" Released As New Single

It's official--a song very near and dear to many DB Congress members' hearts has been announced as Dierks Bentley's newest single.

First heard as a gift to DBCers present at a Las Vegas concert in December of 2017, the song "Living" quickly became a deep fan favorite.

For this very introspective, self-reflective, heart moving, downright gorgeous song, Dierks put his own pen to paper, personally writing this track with Ross Copperman and Josh Kear.

“The idea for this song started from being on the road and realizing how little ‘living’ we were actually doing out there,” he said. “Whole days would go by where you never leave the bus and all you would see is the back parking lot of the arena. Going to Walgreens was a big deal! That is when the idea was born that there is a true difference between being alive and actually ‘living.’ This song is certainly about big moments in life and adventure … but it’s more about finding the beauty and that feeling in everyday moments. My goal for 2019 is to get outdoors and seek adventure whenever possible while also being fully present and living in even the ordinary moments … whether it be my son’s hockey practice and my girls’ theater performances or sitting around the table having dinner in catering with my band and crew.”

While we can assume there will be an official "Living" music video in the future (not confirmed), this initial video was released before the album, and shares a fan story of truly living.

This might be presumptuous of me, but I, personally, could see this one going all the way to number 1 (which would make it his 19th number-one hit, following his 18th--Burning Man--just a couple weeks ago!). Now, we simply need to help get it there! Call, text, tweet your radio stations so we can share this lyrical gem with radio listeners everywhere.

With a heart full of grateful ...

New Single Released, "Woman, Amen"

Only 17 days into January and the year has already been full of confusion, anticipation and elation.

After a week and a half of teasing something big, Dierks Bentley announced on Jan. 10 that his new album, The Mountain, is available for preorder, and BONUS, the new single, "Woman, Amen," was set to be released in one week!

Well, amen and hallelujah! Here we are.

A post shared by Dierks Bentley (@dierksbentley) on

THE MEANING
For those who have gotten to know Dierks over the years, "Woman, Amen" is clearly a reflection of who he is and where he stands in his priorities. For those who don't know him as well as we do, there will be no doubt now how much he loves his bride.

In an interview with Billboard, Dierks said, “I feel like it all starts at home with my wife. She is who grounds me; she is also the one who has helped me to grow as a person over all these years, so I feel if I’m going to tell these stories [on this album] right, I need to start with her."

"Our journey together has made me the man I am today. I doubt my heart would even recognize the old me,” shared Bentley. "This song addresses that in the most direct possible way. The personal gratitude expressed in the lyrics, mixed with a track that leans heavily on some bigger sounds, is the perfect way to introduce the album.”

THE SONG
Written by Dierks, Josh Kear and Ross Copperman, "Woman, Amen" seems to channel Dierks' heroes U2, and classic Mumford & Sons, with the flavor of Dierk's Riser album. Described by Billboard as a "mid-tempo track [that] features bright, ringing guitars and vocals [as] if shouted from a hilltop, while a rolling drumbeat embodies an avalanche of devotion for one's significant other." Taste of Country finds it similar to "I Hold On," building like "Home" and celebrating like "Freedom." "The result is a deeply sincere and personal message of love and gratitude made universal and then freed to soar with signature acoustic instrumentation and a full-throated anthemic chorus."

And the drums. Let's take a moment to talk about that drumline. In what has been described as mountainous, propulsive or even tribal, the drums that carry "Woman, Amen" through the full three minutes have potential to take over but always seem to find the perfect balance with the rest of the band. Drummer Matt Chamberlain--who has worked with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden--played with this beat when they were recording. "We all just sat in the control room watching him play," Dierks recalls. It was a bucket list for some to watch that control room magic. And the magic continues every time we click "play."

THE CHARTS
"[Woman, Amen is] relatable, even though it's such a different title," he said to Rolling Stone. "It's so different than what I had envisioned this record might be, or the lead single might be, but you have to go where the music leads you."

We're so glad the music led him this way. This song--and what we can assume for the entire album at this point--will be a standout among current country tracks. For those who have been dreaming of more classic country, it looks as if Dierks will deliver. As of the first day of release, "Woman, Amen" is #1 on Spotify Hot Country, #6 on the iTunes Country Chart, and is on the Hot Tracks on Apple Music. A well-deserved start for what we "pray" is recognized as an award-winning album across the board. How can it get to #1? Call or tweet your local radio stations and request this track!

You can see Dierks perform this live on The Ellen Show tomorrow (check your local listings for show times).

In the meantime, don't forget to purchase your "key to The Mountain" at dierks.com and use your code to download this single for free! (Now we know the meaning behind the "keys to The Mountain" Faith, Grace, Hope and Strength!) You can also purchase the song on iTunes, Amazon and other music channels.

THE VIDEO
DB Congress reps anticipate the music video will be available in the next month. Stay tuned! In the meantime, enjoy this behind-the-scenes imagery audio version his team released today:

THE LYRICS
I'd lose my way, yeah
I'd lose my mind
If I faced one day on my own
I know I was saved
The night that she gave
This drifter’s heart a home

Every night I should be on my knees
Lord knows how lucky I am
I never say it near enough
Thank God for this woman, amen

This world has a way of shaking your faith
I’ve been broken again and again
But I need all the cracks
In my shattered heart
Cause that’s where her love gets in

Every night I should be on my knees
Lord knows how lucky I am
I never say it near enough
Thank God for this woman, amen

She gives me faith
She gives me grace
She gives me hope
She gives me strength
She gives me love, love without end
Thank God for this woman, amen

Thanks for the moon and the stars up above
Forgiveness of sin and your undying love
Every twist every turn for the way you made sure
All my roads lead to her

So tonight I will fall down on my knees
'Cause Lord knows how lucky I am
I’m going to shout at the top of my lungs
Thank God for this woman, amen
Yeah thank God for this woman, amen

She gives me faith
She gives me grace
She gives me hope
She gives me strength
She gives me love, love without end
Thank God for this woman, amen

Exciting New Album and Single News!

Today information was released about Dierks Bentley's 7th studio album, due this Fall. The album, titled Riser, promises to be his most personal yet, according to the press release. The title of the album comes from the song "I'm a Riser" that will be included on the set, and here's what Dierks has to say about the inspiration behind it:
“Life in general has a way of knocking you down,” Bentley says. “It’s different reasons for different folks – could be personal reasons, could be family reasons, your job, drugs, alcohol. That song really applies to anybody that’s lived. There have always been those moments when we have to get back up and get on our feet. They are defining moments…breakthrough moments.”
The album also finds Dierks going back to his roots, if you will, enlisting the help of executive producer Arturo Beunahora, Jr who produced his first two albums: the critically acclaimed self-titled debut, and equally acclaimed Modern Day Drifter.  Dierks also enlisted production assistance from Ross Copperman, who you'll remember was one of the songwriters for Dierks' most recent Top-5 hit "Tip it on Back."

You can read all about Riser here, and if you'd like to download the Riser logo (shown above) to be your Facebook or Twitter profile picture, you can go to Dierks.com. And here's a video teaser for the album as well!

In addition to exciting album news, rumor has it the lead single from the album is a tune called "Bourbon in Kentucky," written by Hillary Lindsey, Gordie Sampson, and Ryan Tyndell. Many thanks to CA DBC Rep Kristin Toon for tweeting the info and for asking about the song title in her m&g with Dierks on Saturday night! I've looked all over the web to find a video or audio link to the demo of the song, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find it. What I have been able to find, however, are a lot of positive comments about the song, and it sounds like a line in the chorus is "there's not enough bourbon in Kentucky to make me forget about you." Sounds like we might have a good old-fashioned heartbroke country song on our hands! Look for "Bourbon in Kentucky" to hit radio in the next few weeks - we'll keep you posted as soon as we know the exact date it's going to radio.

As for the songwriters, they are no strangers to the #1 spot on the charts, having penned such songs as Lady A's "American Honey," Sara Evans' "A Little Bit Stronger," Gary Allen's "Every Storm (Runs Out of  Rain)," and Eric Church's MASSIVE hit "Springsteen." Hopefully they'll be able to score another chart-topper with this new song from Dierks!

We hope you're as excited for this album and single news as we are, Congress! The rest of 2013 is looking to be exciting times in the world of Dierks. Stay tuned right here for all the latest news!

Dierks Bentley Sings New Single: Home

Back in his home town of Phoenix, Arizona, it was fitting that Dierks Bentley previewed his new song "Home" for the KMLE 8 Man Jam audience.

Dierks introduced the song that he wrote:  "I love this country...thanks to you guys we get a chance to travel all over this country...I think about the guys who settled this country, America wasn't just a place to them, it was an idea."

From the mountains high
To the wave crash coast
There's a way to find
Better days I know

It's been a long hard ride
Got a ways to go
This is still the place
That we all call home

No release date yet, but get ready!  As soon as we know, we'll be asking all DB Congress to hit the campaign trail and start requesting via radio!
