Dierks Bentley 'Tempted' By The David Mayfield Parade
Track 7 of "Good Man Down," the upcoming album by The David Mayfield Parade (due April 1), features Dierks singing the second verse of Marty Stuart's single, "Tempted," from the 1991 album of the same name. Bentley's vocal doesn't stop there, but goes on to be the lead in the chorus, and intermittent lines throughout the song. Sweet!

Growing up in Kent, Ohio, David Mayfield was surrounded by Bluegrass music. At the age of twelve he was playing bass for the family band, traveling from festival to festival, along with his younger sister, noted songstress, Jessica Lea Mayfield, singing and absorbing the stories and lessons taught by road hard veterans, all the while picking up tips on how to play a lick on guitar or mandolin. By the time he was a teenager, Mayfield had won several national awards for his guitar and mandolin playing and his reputation was being forged in the world of Bluegrass as a player to watch out for.
Well no wonder Dierks was tempted to work with him! We're thinking you had him at 'Bluegrass', David!
"It’s a wide mix. I like doing that in the studio just because there are so many ideas that come with these different musicians. I produce these records myself, and I can only hear things the way I hear them. If I had one band, I think, the same people on every song, it would rely a lot more on my vision, which I don’t always trust, you know? There are better ways to do it than what I come up with, so it’s really cool to bring people that I really respect and trust and see what they come up with." [Source]
Historic RCA Studio B is one of the world's most important and successful recording studios. More than 35,000 songs were brought to life by the Studio B magic, including more than 1,000 American hits (i.e., "I Will Always Love You," by Dolly Parton), 40 million-selling singles, and over 200 Elvis Presley recordings (by far more than any other studio), including "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"
Owned by Mike Curb (Curb Records), and leased jointly by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and Belmont University for $1 a year, Studio B will be adding the Dierks track (Tempted) to their personally guided tour (departing from the CMHOF daily), so they will play it and talk about Dierks to hundreds of thousands of people! Keith Wright, National Tourism Sales manager for the CMHOF, believes "Dierks will be a great addition to the more modern history of Studio B."

American Idol Hopeful Hangs On After Singing Dierks Bentley's 'Home'
After being chosen as the first girl to move on to the Top 10 a few weeks ago, Janelle Arthur performed "Home" by Dierks Bentley on American Idol Season 12. It's difficult for me to hear that song in any voice but Dierks', let alone a female voice, but she did a good job! The important thing is, it brought attention to Dierks!
Janelle Arthur Performs "Home" - AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 12
Janelle is still going strong, surviving last night's elimination to be named in the top three of the remaining 7 contestants. I predict she will be in the final 3, but Kree Harrison will likely take home the win.

We Hold On and On and On and On and On
If you've seen Dierks Bentley live in concert lately, you know he's added a new song to the set list. Known for his awe-inspiring, autobiographical songwriting skills, Dierks hits the nail on the head with, "I Hold On." Not only does it hold true to his character, but it inspires us (DB Congress) as well.
"If I had to play one song for a complete stranger, it would be this one. This is what I'm all about." ~Dierks Bentley
Last weekend in Estero, Florida, Dierks introduced the self-anthem and we held up signs for the last verse to show how we feel about our favorite artist--just like the song says. Dierks picked up the last sign and held it up to the crowd and said, "thank you!"See full lyrics below, but here's the last verse:
Yeah baby look at you right now
There ain't ever been no doubt
Without you I'd be nothin'
So if you ever worry 'bout me walkin out
Yeah let me tell you somethin'
I hold on
I hold on
IIIIII Hoooooold On
Let us tell you somethin'...
I Hold On –
Dierks Bentley
It's
just an old beat up truck
Some
say that I should trade up
Now
that I got some
jangle in my pocket
jangle in my pocket
But
what they don't understand
Is
its the miles that make a man
I
wouldn't trade that thing in for a rocket
What
they don't know's
my dad and me
my dad and me
We
drove her out to Tennessee
And
she's still here and now he's gone
So
I hold on
Yeah
it's just an old beat up box
Six rusty strings across the top
It
probably don't look like much to you
But
these dents and scratches
in the wood
in the wood
Yeah
that's what makes it
sound so good
sound so good
To
me it's better than brand new
You
see this here flat top guitar's
Had
my back in a million bars
Singing
every country song
So
I hold on
To
the things I believe in
My
faith, Your love, our freedom
To
the things I can count on to keep me going strong
Yeah I hold on
I hold on
I
hold on
Like
the stripes to the flag
Like
a boy to his dad
I
can't change who I am right or wrong
So
I hold on
Yeah
baby lookin' at you right now
There
ain't ever been no doubt
Without
you I'd be nothin'
So
if you ever worry 'bout me walkin out
Yeah
let me tell you somethin'
I
hold on
I
hold on
I hold on...can you hear me baby?
I hold on...can you hear me baby?
IIIIII
Hoooooold On
To
the things I believe in
My
faith, Your love, our freedom
To
the things I can count on to keep me going strong
So
I hold on
Yeah
I hold on
I
hold on and on and on and on and on
###
So if you ever worry about whether or not to include this song on your upcoming album, Dierks, just know that we hold on no matter what. But it sure would keep us going strong if you did.
