'One' More Top 10 Hit!

In its 13th week on the charts, Dierks Bentley's latest hit "Am I the Only One" has cracked the top 10! It came in this week at #10 on Mediabase, and #11 on Billboard (but have no fear, as Brad Paisley and Keith Urban will go recurrent, so it will easily be #9 next week). And, as of tomorrow, it will be #9 on Mediabase as well, as it moves past the falling Keith Urban single.

As if that's not enough cause for excitement, I was very pleased to see that it also has cracked the Top FIVE on the Callout America chart (which is a over-the-phone listener survey). Billboard's Country Update had this to say about the new addition to the Top 5:
Dierks Bentley is new to the top five in Callout America as “Am I the Only One” comes in at No. 5, up from No. 6 last week and No. 12 two weeks ago. Core 35-44s grade it at No. 3 and consider it No. 4 when asked to name their favorite song. Core females are No. 6 overall and No. 3 favorite; core males are No. 5 and No. 4 favorite.
Clearly the "core males" and "core females" aren't all DBC Reps, but it's still a very strong showing, which I'm sure Capitol Nashville will use to tout the song in a few weeks as it closes in on the top spot. I envision ads that say "power up for the 8th #1 hit!"

Make sure radio knows you're not tired of this great song! And keep in mind the great exposure it's getting tonight on the NHL Awards... in just a few weeks, we should be able to celebrate our Presidents' latest #1 hit!

Dierks Performs at the NHL Awards and Poses with The Stanley Cup!

Dierks Bentley was the musical act for the 2011 NHL Awards Show tonight at The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas.  Dierks did a great job connecting with the crowd--"is there anybody out there...up there (pointing to the rafters)...down there (high fiving the fans at the stage)."

Prior to performing, Dierks spent a few minutes with discussing Tim Thomas being his next door roommate in college, who they want to meet, Vegas, and being hockey fans. If they weren't watching hockey, they were playing Hockey XBOX while on the road touring.

Dierks Bentley: A Top Ten Dad & His Thoughts on Fatherhood/Songwriting names Dierks Bentley as one of their Top Ten Dads in Country Music!
"Dierks Bentley is a guy’s guy, but it’s his two little girls, Evalyn and Jordan, who truly rule the roost. When Jordan was born in December, Dierks took to Twitter to announce her birth, joking she had chosen to enter the world to Mumford & Sons “Awake My Soul.” And we can’t forget Dierks’ faithful dog companions, Jake and George, who have been known to attend red carpet events (and the GAC studio!) with their ‘dad.’"

Dierks Bentley is relishing his role of dad to his two young daughters Evie and Jordan. He admits that his love for his girls has made its way into his songwriting, but he works it in so that everyone can find a connection. "Bein' a dad and havin' those girls is a huge part of my life and so it factors into the music definitely. As a songwriter, when you write a song about love or something like that I try to make it universal, like you could hear it as a parent, you could hear it as lover, you could hear it as a friend, you'll hear it as a father, daughter, or son, mother -- any way and have it work for you in some way, you know, so I try to write songs in that scheme, so I don't actually go out there and necessarily dedicate a song or something like that to a child, but, yeah, it definitely features into it. For anyone that's had a kid, nothing makes your heart spike in one direction or the other everyday, every moment than havin' a kid does."

Happy Father's Day from DB Congress

I wish I had a photo of Dierks Bentley with BOTH his daughters on this 2011 Father's Day. For now, this pic of Evie on dad's shoulders will have to do.

Jordan and Evie are lucky to have such a loving dad to give them a strong foundation to grow into beautiful young ladies and build a good life. I'm sure he loves to hear them call him "daddy or dada!"

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there in DB Congress!  I know many of you are raising your kids to love and appreciate Dierks' music like all of us do!

DVR Alert: Dierks Bentley to Perform at 2011 NHL Awards

Dierks Bentley's love for music AND hockey is coming together in a big way.

Not only does Dierks play for the Iceholes (a men's recreational hockey league in Nashville, TN) on his days off, but his recent almost #10 Billboard hit, "Am I The Only One," was featured in NHL® Conference Finals national TV tune-in spots on NBC, VERSUS, CBC, RDS and NHL Network. This was a second version of the original video, this time with footage from the 2010-2011 NHL season and performances from Dierks' Jagermeister Country Tour.  The spot also ran online at and team websites, in-arena during Playoff games and across the NHL's social media platforms.

And now Dierks is scheduled to perform, along with hip hop/electro pop group Far East Movement, at the 2011 NHL Awards™, to air Wednesday, June 22 at the Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas--a sold out event. Hosted by actor/comedian Jay Mohr, the NHL Awards will feature the best hockey players in the world alongside celebrities from music, stage and screen in celebration of the 2010-11 hockey season. The 2011 NHL Awards will be broadcast live at 7pm ET on VERSUS in the U.S. and CBC in Canada.

More than 500 Feel That Dierks Bentley Fire at Last Call Ball 7

The news spread like fire and burned throughout the DB Congress (fan club).  Hopes were held high but only 500 got tickets to Dierks Bentley's annual fan club party.  Last Call Ball 7, held at Rocketown in Nashville a week ago tonight (June 8, 2011), was a rockin' experience for Team Dude, Dierks and his 'congrass'.

Unlike past LCB's where the music was random--acoustic, happy, sad, rocking, slow, and everything in between--DB chose a pre-determined set list full of up tempo, rocking' hot hits and some of the DBC's favorite non-singles. Dierks and the entire band played for a full hour--borrowing some tunes from the recent Jagermeister Country Tour set list.

One of the highlights during the hour was when Dierks sang one verse of Good Things Happen from the Modern Day Drifter album:

"The world is cold but I don't care
When you have flowers in your hair
I see color and I hear sound
And good things happen when [DB Congress] is around"

Many fan-clubbers and guests arrived at Rocketown early in the morning and throughout the afternoon--hours prior to the 10 pm opening of the doors.  They sweltered in the heat just to ensure a spot with elbows on stage (myself included).  Earlier in the afternoon, Dierks, Jake and Big White snuck into the venue around back, (or was it the front?) and a few fans left notes on his truck, that he later thanked them for.  He had tweeted earlier in the day that some girl dissed Big White:

a girl just stopped me and said my truck looks like the kind every country singer should drive. nice way of saying my truck looks like crap!

Another memorable moment was the medley where Dierks announced Dan Hochhalter (fiddle player) is going to sing a song for us and Dan shakes his head no (gets stage fright).  While Dierks and Dan are 'arguing,' bassist Cassady Feasby steps up to the mic and starts belting out Bon Jovi:

A few people hollered out "birthdays", and Dierks said, we have a "one-day-old", referring to Brian Layson (lead guitar) who became a daddy again the day before.  He still had the white hospital band around his wrist.

Attendees dined on mini mexican cuisine and baby BBQ sandwiches--but the Bud Light was NOT free this year. Other activities new to LCB7 included the buckets-o-peanuts on the tables--two of which were autographed by Dierks and awarded to two winners.  Some found the photo booth and played around with some funny poses.

And the LCB7 T-shirts this year were black--yeah!  Made my day they were not white!

It was great meeting up with friends whom I've met over the last 6 years at all the other Last Call Balls, and meeting new ones!  I even met some for the first time and thought I had already met them--that's how strong the online DBC connection is!  I love my DBC family!

But the most important part of the night was the one-on-one Meet and Greet with our DB Congress president - Dierks Bentley himself.  The commemorative lanyard/tickets were numbered and those in the 480-500 range did not meet DB until 3 a.m.  But many fan club parties don't even offer the one-on-one M&G, so Dierks fans are very fortunate he gives us that special time with him.  Of course, that's why we all are so loyal and dedicated to supporting him, right?

I even went to Blake Shelton's fan club party on Friday night, in hopes Dierks would show up like he did last year, but it wasn't to be.  And although Blake put on an awesome concert with some surprise guests, that's all it was--absolutley NO meet and greet.  What?

I was most impressed with the generosity and willingness of fellow fan-clubbers (DBC-ers) to work so hard at making sure all tickets to LCB were used.  Many thanks to Becky, Janet and Jane who helped make a dream come true for Angela, Becky and her son Matthew.  They had extra tickets and went to great lengths to get these 3 to their first LCB experience!

Thank you, Dierks! Thanks for showing the others how to really appreciate your fans--by spending quality one-on-one time with them. Thanks for the awesome music and thanks for  having some of the most talented and funny musicians in the band: Tim Sergent, Steve Misamore, Dan Hochhalter, Brian Layson, and Cassady Feasby.  Next year--we want to MEET and take pics with each of them!  They're part of the DBC family, too!

Radio Getting its Good Time On

Dierks Bentley's latest hit single "Am I the Only One" continues its march toward the top 10, landing at #14 on both Mediabase and Billboard after just 10 weeks on the charts (it's one of the "youngest" songs in the Top 15 - only Blake Shelton and Lady A are younger!). This week has seen strong gains on the two songs immediately in front of it on the charts: "Somewhere Else" by Toby Keith and "Country Girl" by Luke Bryan, and it's quite possible it will overtake at least one prior to the next chart run. Additionally, "Heart Like Mine" by Miranda Lambert should fall past AITOO, so #12 is not out of the question heading into Last Call Ball. :)

On the smaller market Billboard Country Indicator chart, it's already passed "Country Girl" and came in at #11 this week, so for all of you smaller market, more rural areas: thank your radio stations because they are getting their good time on for sure!

And I don't know about you guys, but the DJs here in NC sure do have a good time playing on the title of the song ... for instance, this morning I was driving to work in Durham, NC and listening to 94.7 WQDR. Miranda Lambert is in town tomorrow night, and after playing "Heart Like Mine" they segued into AITOO with "Am I the only one ... who wants to win Miranda Lamber tickets? Here's the latest from Dierks Bentley!" My favorite DJ in Charlotte refers to the song as his new anthem. It's fun to hear positive feedback like that!

For the many of you heading to LCB this week, I hope you have a great time. I'll be there in spirit, but am planning to attend next year -- finally! Can't wait to hear all the stories!
