Dierks Bentley, Right At Home, Covers Country Weekly

Like clockwork, my local grocery store stocks the next issue of Country Weekly every Friday.  Wouldn't you know the week Dierks Bentley finally gets the cover again (Fe. 20, 2012), they never showed up on the shelf! Thank goodness for DB Congress friends!

In case you didn't get a copy either, here is the cover and article.  If you have an extra copy, please let us know so we can get you in contact with those who need one!

Favorite quote:
"We have to make this worthwhile."  He pauses.  "Not only for our fans, who spent their time and money, but also for us.  I have to walk off that stage feeling like, 'Yes, this is why I'm out here.'"
Be sure to email letters@countryweekly.com and let them know what you thought of the article!

Country Weekly Permanently Links To Dierks!

From the Vault is a special section on countryweekly.com and the "Dierks Bentley: Friends For A Lifetime" story is a featured vault article!  Not only that, but the story about Larissa and the friendships DB Congress reps have formed through Dierks, originally appeared in the October 10, 2011 magazine and links to even more Dierks content in the Country Weekly archives!

"In order to give Larissa's story a permanent place to reside, we're posting it here on this page, which is dedicated to Larissa's memory."
-Your fellow Dierks fans at Country Weekly
CW also thanks the fans for the comments, tweets and letters.  One such letter appeared in the Oct. 31 issue from DBC Iowa rep, Mona:

Check it all out here.

Country Weekly Highlights Dierks' Jager Country Tour

Check out page 38-41 in the June 20, 2011 issue of Country Weekly! Our DB Congress prez (Dierks Bentley) is featured in "Meister Memories."  "If you can't have fun with Dierks Bentley on tour, then you simply have no taste for the good life."

Country Weekly Picks Dierks Bentley for Country's Sexiest Men - 2010 List

I'm beginning to believe that 2010 is Dierks Bentley's year! Country Weekly's October 18th issue includes Dierks at #3 on their 2010 top ten list of Country's Sexiest Men! Recognizing his irresistable curls, romantic way and family-man as top factors, CW's picks were not necessarily in sync with the readers' results.

I was thrilled with their picks, but disappointed the DB Congress couldn't land our president in the fans list! Either we need a whole lot more reps or we need to find a way that all 620 of us can pitch in on the voting! Need your ideas, 'congrass'!

More DB love is in the same issue with a 2-page spread on the ASCAP awards, where Dierks won Songwriter/Artist of the Year and a Top 5 Most Performed Song for Sideways--his 13th ASCAP for the "most performed song" category. In a new page, "Staff Picks," production manager Alyssa Carlson recomends Dierks' Up On The Ridge album.

Yes, 2010 is going to be a great year for our DBC prez.! With 3 CMA nominations, there's a good chance he'll walk away with a trophy--I'm guessing Album of the Year! This year also marks the 5th year of his Grand Ole Opry Induction and 5th anniversary of his Miles and Music For Kids charity event, which has raised over $1.2 million dollars for children's hospitals across the nation!

Dierks Shares Country Weekly Cover With Josh Turner and Luke Bryan, 9/27/10

Dierks Bentley joins Josh Turner and Luke Bryan on the cover of Country Weekly's September 27 issue. The feature article is titled "Baby Boom!", but other than mentioning Dierks' name twice and a photo of Dierks and Cassidy, the story didn't have one quote or even one sentence about him! What?

"Josh Turner, Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney, Dierks Bentley and Zac Brown are all awaiting new arrivals. Joe Don and his wife, Tiffany, and Dierks and his wife, Cassidy, are becoming second time parents..." That's it!

Don't get me wrong, I am extremely grateful for any and all "Dierks" on the cover and on the pages of Country Weekly. I just don't understand why he was even on the cover if the story was going to be all about Josh, Luke and Rascal Flatts? Shouldn't it have been 33% Dierks?

What do you think, congress? Oh, and while you're at it, would love to read your thoughts on the picture they used of Dierks on the cover. Hot or Not?

COUNTRY WEEKLY INCLUDES DIERKS WEEKLY

Country Weekly magazine know Dierks Bentley is hot right now. So hot they've included him in three consecutive issues throughout their pages of popular and up-and-coming artists.

The July 19th issue, with George, Reba and Toby on the cover, has Dierks doing double duty, with a full page "Hot Shots" page of his appearance on the Today show, serenading Kathie Lee and Hoda with "Draw Me a Map." Then on the Letters page, two DB Congress reps (Linda, IN and David, KY) who sent in thank yous for the cover artice (June 21 issue) got published! A feature story, "Musical Schizophrenia" highlights Jon Randall Stewart and his latest record producer project, Dierks Bentley's masterful new Up On The Ridge album.

The following week,--July 26th, Dierks lands on the Hot Shots pages again, this time picturing "the closest to couch time" episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live where DB and the band performed acoustically into Jimmy's lap top due to a power shortage. Skip to the Scoop page and you'll find Dierks lending a hand for Nashville Flood Relief on NBC's Today show. And don't miss the pic of Dierks at the piano on The Pro File page, featuring WUSN Chicago's Lisa Dent and Ramblin' Ray. Read what she had to say about Dierks.

August 2nd--More Dierks in the letters, our very own Molly, DBC rep in New York! Miranda and Blake threw an engagement party for themselves, and Dierks was mentioned as being on the guest list.

Thanks, Country Weekly, for always including a little DB in your magazine! We are extremely grateful and that's why we're loyal CW readers, and most of us subscribe!

DIERKS DOES IT HIS WAY, COVERS COUNTRY WEEKLY AGAIN!

Dierks Bentley is Doing It His Way and Country Weekly tells us all about it in their feature story on our DB Congress president! This solo cover marks the third time Dierks has landed on the front of Country Weekly magazine. We couldn't be more thrilled!

"Dierks Bentley is taking his music in a new direction with his new bluegrass-flavored album, Up on the Ridge. Dierks talks with Country Weekly about his love for bluegrass and acoustic music and the recording of the new album. “Every record I’ve done has always had a bluegrass track on it,” Dierks explains. “You can hear the influence.” Dierks also hopes that country radio will come to accept the new release. “There are a couple songs on there that I think would work,” Dierks tells Country Weekly. “If country radio can lean toward pop or rock, it can certainly lean a little bit towards ’grass.”

Read Full Article in the June 21 Issue!"

*Special thanks to Steve Morley for bringing me an advanced copy!

GRAMMY RECOGNITION BEATS BARACK, FORBES

When asked, DB Congress reps felt a Grammy nomination for Dierks Bentley's Beautiful World was the most note-worthy accomplishment of the country music artist's year of great achievements in 2009, with a 43% voting result. And that's just a nomination--he hasn't even won yet! Watch the Grammy Awards on CBS, January 31, 2010 · 8PM ET/PT.

Even though U.S. President Barack Obama quoted Dierks in a speech ("Dierks Bentley said country music is the best shrink $15 can buy"), and Forbes named him 1 of 10 of the next breakout stars, fans still feel passionately that a Grammy would speak volumes about Bentley's basically under-recognized talent.

Not even awards such as an ASCAP Award for Most Performed Songs, CMT's International Artist Achievement Award and a CMT Music Award for the "Country Boy" video garnered enough votes to trump the Grammy nod.

Three solo magazine covers in 2009 - Country Weekly (2) and an American Songwriter cover were not the highest vote-getters, either. The next highest percentage of votes went to the kids: Miles & Music For Kids (Dierks' motorcycle ride/concert benefiting Children's Miracle Network) expanded to 6 cities, with 17% of the vote, followed by Feel That Fire & Sideways - two number one singles in one year, obtaining 10%.

Dierks had a tremendous 2009 and I look forward to even more accomplishments in 2010 as he continues to grow in name-recognition, and talent. With two new albums planned (the first is a bluegrass CD), he is sure to surpass last year's feats.

Who knows? I am hoping this is the year he is nominated for Male Vocalist for both the ACM's and the CMA Awards!

Happy 15th Birthday Country Weekly!

Fifteen years ago, Country Weekly began publication of their devotion to the country music world--"a direct link between country stars and their loyal fans"--April 12, 1994.

You won't want to miss this Collector's Edition, featuring the hottest stars of the last 15 years, including our very own DB Congress president, the dude himself--Dierks Bentley!

Country Weekly has been very kind to Dierks since he came slidin' in like Bo Duke to the country music scene in 2003.

All throughout this special edition, CW features "CW Shout Outs" from the artists. One of the funniest was from Blake Shelton: "15 years old? You aren't even legal! Call me whe you turn 18. Love you, Country Weekly." Not to be out 'done', git er done comedy king Larry The Cable Guy said, "...after a few Blue Collar Comedy tour shows, there it was--an article on me. I was so excited I called all my friends and my parole officer and they had the same response--'You idiot! I'ts 3:30 in the morning!'"

I'd like to give my own shout out. I was so excited to see the DB Congress featured in Stars Up Close article (He Looked Up, October 6, 2008) telling the story of that cool Atlanta night with Dierks and his congress! CW was so gracious, emailing me back and forth to make sure everything was accurate! True professionals! But then in March 2009, after launching this website (www.dbcongress.com) in February, CW published "Dierks Fans Go to Congress" on the What's Online page--I was so surprised and happy! More Dierks coverage! More CW sales!

Dierks appears on several pages of this special December 28, 2009 issue: 17 with Jake on his ATV, 39 weddings, 41 babies, 46 country living, 51 top tunes, and page 59 (15 years of covers).

He's decidely absent from the "15 Most Influential Stars" over the the last 15 years. But I predict he will be in the top 20 by the time Country Weekly publishes their 20 year anniversary issue!

On behalf of all the DB Congress (Dierks Bentley Fan Club) Representatives, THANK YOU Country Weekly for always having at least some little morsel of DB in every issue! We especially appreciate the two solo covers in 2009 and all the "letters" and Stars Up Close about Dierks from DB Congress reps! Congratulations on 15 years! We look forward to another 15 and many more Dierks covers!

Country Weekly magazine--money well spent every week!

NEW YORKER GETS PUBLISHED IN COUNTRY WEEKLY

Schenectady, NY couldn't ask for a better DB Congress representative than Jane Sumner--and Country Weekly could not have picked a better letter to publish! Thanks, Jane!, for your solid support of Dierks every day. Your thank you to CW (Oct. 26) helped get Dierks noticed!

DIERKS AND JAKE COVER COUNTRY WEEKLY!

So, I opened my email and saw one from Country Weekly for the sneak peak at an upcoming issue--you know, the survey that makes you choose one:

*I like this cover and I'd buy it,
*I don't like this cover but I'd buy it anyway,

But there was no option to say "I LOVE THIS COVER,WHEN CAN I BUY IT!"

Dierks Bentley on the cover of Country Weekly - AGAIN! Well, this time not so solo, but we love Jake, too. He is such a sweet dog! And the best part is, I was there with a lot of my DB Congress buddies to experience the photo shoot! Details at the Atlanta Tabernacle blog.

This will be the September 21 issue on sale September 14.

THANK YOU COUNTRY WEEKLY! You just made my day!

*EDIT 8/28/09: Please keep in mind this is merely a test cover. Since I am part of the survey panel for CW covers, this was a test version and not necessarily the final version. Images, headlines and other things can change; changes can be caused by breaking news and such.

DIERKS TAKES FLIGHT: 2-10,000 FEET

Country Weekly does it again! Not only are they showin' the love for our main man, Dierks Bentley, but CW also found it fitting to include love letters from two of our DB Congress representatives--Carrie in NC and Takara in MO!

Although the August 10th CW features Kenny on the cover, they really revved up this issue with full page pics of Dierks. Like page 9--taking flight at the City Stages music festival in Birmingham. You gotta buy this issue JUST for this pic alone! It even shows "Slips" (Tim Sergent) playing his steal guitar!

Then there's the Story Behind The Song page for Sideways. I now have all 7 DB #1 singles stories from Country Weekly. What a great collection! Find out what Dierks thinks the best line in the song is.

Get your copy today! You don't want to miss all the Dierks love!

DIERKS WITH AN "E", SPECIAL K, AND PLAN B

The August 3rd issue of Country Weekly features a full Star Stats page on Dierks Bentley! Make sure you pick up your copy today to find out who left off the E when signing a gift to "Dirks," what kind of cereal he keeps on the bus, and what his fall back plans were for a career.

Oh, and if you think CW has slacked off on DB mentions since the April 13 solo cover, you'd be mistaken! I counted 11 mentions of "Dierks Bentley" in the August 3rd issue-cover to cover.

The first DBC rep to tell me all the pages his full name appears, will win a prize! Hint: one page mentions "Dierks Bentley" 4 times!

CW CAPTURES DIERKS MOMENTS

In the June 29, 2009 issue, Country Weekly treats us to a two-page spread of Dierks photographic memories! Photos include Dierks on his bike, hockey, Jake, on stage, and ATV-ing, but my favorite is Daddy Dierks showing Evie the 'wonders of the world from a tour bus.'

Later in the same issue, Dierks gives us some words to live by:

And, Dierks is pictured at the top of the Charts page--credited for co-writing his latest Top 10 hit--Sideways. Help make it a #1! Call your DJ or click on Yes.com!

Let's make sure we tell CW how appreciative we are for all the Dierks love! Send them an email today at letters@countryweekly.com.

DIERKS AND DAD IN PLAID

It's apparent where Dierks Bentley gets his love for plaid. Just one look at this pic from young D and Dad Leon--both in blue-plaid attire--tells you Dierks learned at an early age to be "like father like son. "

Country Weekly's June 22 tribute to Father's Day features "Lessons From Dad," revealing things country stars learned from their dad's that helped them become the people they are today.

My dad fought in World War II, he grew up during the Depression and his whole life has revolved around his family. He wa a great dad. Putting family first is what I learned from him.

This year, Dierks is a first time daddy to daughter Evie, now nearly nine months old.

Happy Father's Day to Dierks and all the dads out there who enjoy DB's music!

COUNTRY WEEKLY LOVES DIERKS!

I love my Country Weekly! Love it even more now that it's "weekly!" And they certainly have lots of love for our DB Congress president, Dierks Bentley--especially lately! The May 18 issue (Carrie on the cover) dotes on DB from the Letters page all the way to the last page where they ask him 7 interesting questions--wait unitl you read his answers!

~Letters - Hey Martha! Interested in becoming a DBC rep for North Carolina?

~Chillin' with the Stars - What's in Dierks' fridge?

~Tootsies - the world famous, historic Nashville honky-tonk CW page pictures Dierks, but I'm pretty positive that's NOT his band! hmmmmmm

~Stars Up Close - another well-crafted, touching story by Steve Morley, from one of our very own California DB Congress reps, Janet M.! For those of you in the DB Fan Club, here is Janet's original post on the fan club message board.

~7 Questions with Dierks Bentley - Read what just about made him gag and why he's glad he has a daughter--not a son! It's interesting they picked "7" questions, the same number on his IceHoles jersey!

One more page that didn't mention him, but made me think of Dierks is the David Scarlett story on Keith Whitley--20 Years Gone. It's been two decades since keith Whitley died, but his influence still lives on. Many of you may remember one of Dierk's fan club journals where he posted about his admiration and reverence for Whitley. And Bentley's sure to be next single (hopefully), I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes, Dierks attests, is the opposite spin on Keith's first No. 1 single, "Don't Close Your Eyes."

OK, you know the drill, I've posted the pics, but it's your congressional duty to go buy the magazine! That's how we DBC dedicated Dierks fans say Thank You, Country Weekly!

COUNTRY WEEKLY IS FULL OF DIERKSNESS

Country Weekly is full of it! Full of Dierks Bentley that is! Check out the May 11, 2009 issue!

First, on the letters page, they published Mona's (DB Congress rep from Iowa and DB Congress T-Shirts) Diggin' Dierks! letter.

Then, Florida rep Cora's daughter, Amber is pictured with Dierks on the Stars Up Close section!

Next, Dierks thanks his mom for the best gift she gave him in the Mother's Day feature article. And lastly, Dierks is shown in the Charts page next to his "Sideways" single: "Dierks wrote and produced his latest hit single." The Chart is week ending April 25 when it was still at #18--up to #11 this week!

Thank you Country Weekly!

Oh, by the way, one thing CW left out was on page 3. There's a little game to match the Name of the Band to match the Star. Don't forgot Dierks Bentley and The TLB-Terminally Lonesome Band! We love Rod, Robbie, Steve and Tim, too!

DIERKS IS GOING PLACES

Dear AAA Auto Club South Going Places magazine:

OK, I expect to see Dierks in my Country Weekly magazine, but never in a million years did I expect to see him in my AAA Going Places magazine! Imagine my surprise and confusion when I turned to page 19 and saw a photo of Dierks Bentley! I quickly flipped back to the cover. Yep. AAA--not Country Weekly. Consider yourself hugged madam editor. THANK YOU!

So, what's the story? The "Granddaddy of Country Music Events" article announces Dierks as one of the all-star lineup acts featured at this year's CMA Music Festival, and offers a AAA Escapes package for the festival. Wow! You mean they're not sold out? Huh!

Go online to AAA Escapes. Tell them Ronna sent you! I am well-known for my undying support of DB--I have worked for AAA for 19 years! In fact, everyone at work today thought I had something to do with Dierks' photo vs. Reba or Brooks & Dunn, but I didn't know a thing! I love my job!
