One Year Since Jake's Passing, Bentleys Rescue Two More Dogs

After 15 years of gracing album covers, walking the red carpet, and starring in music videos, Dierks Bentley's beloved dog, Jake, went on to eat doggy treats in heaven.

In a post that broke hearts around the world, Dierks shared of this passing through his social media channels just one year ago today:
A post shared by Dierks Bentley (@dierksbentley) on

"For 15 years right by my side. From a single man to three kids and a wife. Friends come and go, but when it comes to Jake, there are just some things that can't be replaced."

By Dierks' side for so many memories, many us of had the opportunity to give Jake some love; he was an honorary (and original!) DB Congress member.

This love continues in his passing with gifts created in his honor such as a painting, t-shirt, and a wooden treasure box. DB Congress representatives even donated $900 in Jake's honor to the VCA Murphy Road Animal Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., per Dierks' wishes.

Naturally, the other family dog, George Bentley, was lonely without his buddy Jake, so the Bentleys welcomed Emmylou Who and Patch Adams to the bunch.

Definitely not replacements for Jake, but beloved family members in their own right as seen in this video, it's clear they are right at home (who wouldn't be?)!

Dierks Bentley Congress Reps Honor Jake's Memory

A few weeks ago, when Dierks Bentley posted a picture of his best friend/dog Jake captioned "rest in peace pal," the DB Congress (fan club) community mourned along with him. Many of us had met Jake --who had been by Dierks' side for 16 years--petted him, hugged him and designated him as an honorary DB Congress member!

But Jake died after a battle with cancer.  He was the best dog and our hearts go out to Dierks and his family.

While some fans sent their condolences via Facebook and Twitter, others brought cards and letters to meet and greets, one fan had a special T-shirt made and gave it to Dierks!

At the Charlotte, NC show, the DBC delivered a hand-made keep sake box with a special message inside for the Bentley family, to fill the box with treasured memories of Jake--his dog tags, favorite toy, collar.

And dozens more DBC reps wanted to leave a legacy in honor of Jake's memory to an animal shelter of Dierks' choice.  I presented to him in the meet and greet in Tampa a plaque and a card with all the donor names and he was blown away.  He said he felt guilty about feeling bad about losing Jake when there was so much going on in the world--I told him we understood and not to feel bad--Jake was family.

During the Tampa show, after singing, "Every Mile A Memory," (Red sundown out across that Florida sky--I saw it tonight!) Dierks turned around to watch his pal on the video screens.  Watch here.

I later found out Dierks wanted the donations to go to the VCA Murphy Road Animal Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.  They own Love At First Sight--a place that finds homes for puppies and kittens!

Megan Reaves was so appreciative of our $900 donation!  She told me "Dierks loved that dog so much!"  We know!

If you would like to contribute to the Jake Memorial Fund, just give her a call at 615-383-4241 or email her at Megan.Reaves@vca.com.  Tell her you are a Dierks Bentley Congress (fan club) member!

In addition to the many music videos and album covers, here are a few of our favorite Jake memories...

DB Congress Surprises Dierks Bentley with Birthday Boots for his 40th!

So how do a bunch of fans help celebrate Dierks Bentley turning 40? By buying him a gently-used pair of old boots and lots of duct tape, that’s how!

As you may know, Dierks literally wears his shoes until they're falling apart, with holes in them, applying fresh duct tape before every show as necessary.  He also loves old vintage items, from clothing to cars. So what better present to get him than a pair of  old Vietnam combat boots, complete with several rolls of duct tape for future patching. (Tom and Jay, you don’t have to hide the extra duct tape—Dierks has his own supply now).

The idea to get Dierks new/(old) boots came about after Miles and Music for Kids 2015 and Last Call Ball, November 1.  We knew that Dierks was finally retiring his “Riser Tour” boots from his Instagram post:
"the WWII boots ive been wearing since the #riser tour. previous owner named Lipman. duct taped heal. 4 shows to go."
Then at Last Call Ball, DB Congress presented him with a gift commemorating his 10th year of MM4K and when we asked him to guess what it was, he said, "A new pair of boots?" (Nope, a specially engraved motorcycle derby).

This gave several DB Congress members a thought…replace the boots.

North Carolina DB Congress member, Adrian Taylor, formed a Facebook group and the plan was put into action. Fans from all across the USA and Canada came together and contributed toward the cost of buying boots and duct tape for Dierks.  Everyone who donated wrote messages that Adrian added to his birthday card.

Meanwhile, during the search for the perfect pair of boots, a local Nashville team was conspiring to arrange a time to surprise Dierks to present the special package.

The plan was to give the gift to Dierks on his birthday (November 20).  However, since this was a big milestone birthday for our President--the big 4-0--Dierks took the weekend off to celebrate. Can't blame him there.

So, ten days later, on November 30th, with the help of  Stephanie from The Green Room PR, we were able to surprise Dierks with his "slightly worn but vintage combat boots."

In the video, Dierks is seen with his long time companion, Jake, opening the package. Adrian did the wrapping and wanted to make sure it was a challenge for him to get to the actual boots, "so I used the strongest industrial tape I could find. Sorry Dierks, but we had to make it hard for you!"

"Jake, this is from DB Congress.  This is...so cool...package #1...thank you guys...Whoa! This is...a new pair of boots!  These are good boots!  WOW! I'm actually...I am actually totally shocked because I've been online looking for some new boots...laughs....wow! These are...I mean...I am shocked! These are some really nice boots!...WOW!  Let's give 'em a shot! Gosh...I mean I think they fit...I think they fit pretty good.  The old ones need to go away. I mean it's like a really, perfect fit.  Such a nice gift, y'all.  Thank you guys so much! These are great boots! I'm shocked! Thank you so much!"

You don't have to look any more Dierks!  These old boots still got a lot of ground they ain't covered yet!

Thank you to all who helped make this a special 40th birthday for Dierks!  He really seemed to be surprised and according to Stephanie after the video ended be kept complementing the boots saying how nice they were--and they fit perfectly!

Who's excited to see the boots on stage next year?

Dierks Bentley Celebrated a Decade as a Grand Ole Opry Member

Dierks Bentley celebrated his ten year anniversary of being a Grand Ole Opry member (October 1, 2005) by performing the Tuesday night Opry on September 29, 2015. Some DB Congress were there in person and some were listening online and captured the 30-minute closing segment on audio, transcribed below.

Bill Cody introduced the special 30 minute closing segment.

"This is a special night for him,we're gonna recognize that along the way, 10 years of Opry membership for a fellow who, and I'll share more of his story, the backstory to what I'm about to tell you, an incredible award winning singer and songwriter, 3 consecutive #1's off the critically acclaimed album, Riser, I Hold On, Drunk On A Plane and Say You Do, his 6 previous studio albums sold more than 5 million copies, he's notched 13 #1 singles, 12 Grammy nominations, countless CMA, ACM and CMT nominations...Would you welcome, Dierks Bentley, would ya? On his 10th Anniversary!"

Song #1:  What Was I Thinkin': "I was thinkin' tonight's the 10 year anniversary of me being a Grand Ole Opry member and I was thinkin' that's pretty cool!"

Dierks:  10 years y'all...this is crazy!  I'm not used to doing that song first, usually save that one for later in the set, but tonight we're doing everything backwards going back and doing songs off all the albums I've had...taking a trip down memory lane, That was off my debut album, gonna do one off my album Modern Day Driffer...driffer? What's a driffer?  Modern Day DRIFTER.  Let's do a little....

Song #2 Settle For A Slowdown (Video by DBC Rep Jessica Martin, on our Facebook page).

Song #3: Free And Easy (Down The Road I Go)

Bill Cody:  Hey Dierks,  (Hey Bill), Let's celebrate 90 years, and your 10th anniversary, you've been here, except for the first 80, you've been here for all of them!  (Dierks laughs).  If you'd make your way over to the podium I have something for Dierks tonight...in celebration of the Opry's 90 years and his 10 years of membership, a piece of art we had commissioned for special milestones for all of our Opry members.  It will hang backstage and we have one for him to take one home...there will be a whole wall of those backstage eventually.

Dierks:  Thanks, Bill.  Love this guy, love listening him in the mornings...one of the best things about being in Nashville having 650 WSM...such a great way to start the morning.  This means a lot to me.  I don't have any gold plaques at my house, I don't want my kids around all that stuff, but I do have my Opry microphone that's always there in the kitchen.  My kids know what the Grand Ole Opry is, and this is gonna be up in my house, too.  The Opry is my home, I've been on the road the last 12 years but this is home here and this means the world to me. Thanks, Bill.

Bill: He's got more!  Dierks has invited some special guests to join him on stage:

Dierks:  These guys' (Dailey and Vincent) 90th time playing the show, for me to have the two kinds of music I love, bluegrass--I'll forever be a fan and a student, and to have these guys represent, and to have my friends, The Cadillac Three representing that rockin' country style kinda completes the circle for me.  A couple years ago I decided to leave the country music treadmill and I made a bluegrass record...nice slow song for you guys...just kidding.  This is about as fast as you can play a song, this is a song from my Up On The Ridge record.

Song #4:  Rovin' Gambler

Dierks:  Dailey and Vincent, y'all!  One of the greats in bluegrass and music in general!

The number 10's big for me right now...my 10th anniversary here at the Opry, we'e been married 10 years this year, but this guy right here, he was here 10 years ago, I was driving away from my house today and I was like you know Jake was here 10 years ago and I gotta bring him back out, so ,...he's 15 years old but he's still here,...he can't hear ya...he can probably see you clapping, he appreciates that...Jake, Jake, JAKE, JAKE?...Trust me, 3 kids under 6 it's a blessing he doesn't hear...he's the only one in the house sleeping...special night to have him here with me, place we all call home here at the opry not just us humans, but us dogs, too.  One more time for Jake and for you guys for making this our home.

Dierks and Jake 2005; Dierks and Jake 2015

Speaking of getting married, the most special thing happened before that, back in 2005 Pete Fisher and everyone at the Opry was nice enough to let me come out here and surprise my wife...it was on a Thursday, and Cassidy said 'why are we going to the Opry on a Thursday?' well there's a special show going on I want you to see... I had her totally fooled and we got out here and they had a little table set up right on the circle of the stage in this old wood where everyone stood and had dinner a couple nights before I was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, so this place will always have special meaning for me and just to be part of this great club of the Opry means so much to me.

So we're going to do a song off the record after my UOTR album...Home kinda speaks about...my dad was a WW2 veteran and all the guys that fought for us and sacrificed for us and to make this home what it is.  I started writing this song...it's really hard to write a patriotic song in 3 and a half minutes, but it just always finds new meaning for me and I hope you all can find something out of this song you can take home with ya.

Song #5:  Home

Thank you guys for making us feel so at home tonight!

Bill Cody:  Hey Dierks' we got more to help you celebrate your 10th anniversary.  I wanna recognize Dierks for the work he does for this community--The 10th annual Miles and Music for Kids event sold out within 30 minutes....that's an ongoing part of his life.  And what you may not know...he's one of the few members who was actually banned from being backstage at the opry.  During his early days here in Nashville, Dierks had a job as a researcher for The Nashville Network--you guys remember TNN? And he reported for work just across the way from the Opry house and of course he was in town to be a singer and he had a habit of showing up backstage and gaining access by using his employee badge, flashing his pass and gettin' in and making himself at home.  Until the Opry Vice President and General Manager of who he spoke so highly of earlier, Pete Fisher, limited his backstage access--would that be a kind way of saying it? What did he tell you?

Dierks: Uh...he sent an email back over to TNN saying 'hey we really like Dierks--nice guy, appreciate his enthusiasm for the Opry, but he just can't show up every Friday and Saturday night and hang out backstage...maybe once a month.'

Bill:  October 1, 2005, Dierks was welcomed as an official member of the Opry family.  We celebrate that tonight.  Now he has the ultimate backstage pass, doesn't he?  And a fellow who has had one of those for 54 years, he's in the Country Music Hall of Fame...Whisperin' Bill Anderson has something for ya, Dierks, on your 10th anniversary...

Dierks:  I love this guy right here, ya'll.  Bill Anderson.

Bill:  I love you pal and congratulations on ten years...you're gaining on me I've only been here 54. You'll catch me one of these days.

Dierks:  If I could keep writing songs like this guy---every decade he's had a hit --we all look up to you as songwriters."

Bill:  Thank you, that's very kind of you, but we're not here to talk about that.

It's really a milestone for somebody to have spent 10 years as a part of our family and this is a family...a very special family...and you told me backstage that you're taking some time off the road this fall...I hope that means we're gonna see even more of you out here on the circle...

You came here Dierks at a great time... to get to know some of the great legends. Unfortunately a lot of them have passed away including this man...Dierks, this is a picture of you and Little Jimmy Dickens on the stage and he's got on headphones and you look like you're not wanting to listen, that is a classic picture. What can you tell me about when that was taken and where?

Dierks:  That was back stage here at the Opry, we were goofing around, we did all sorts of little skits, we had a car were driving around in and on this one we were pretending we were cranking up some music...probably had some Hank Williams on there.

Like all the great Opry members he's a guy who could entertain the crowd.  We all aspire to be like him and I miss him.  It's tough to be out here without him...I'm taking this home with me.

Bill:  Take this home to your kids and let them know their dad hung out with Little Jimmy Dickens, one of the true greats.

Our Opry General Manager Mr. Pete Fisher is in LA, I guess since I was the senior Opry member here tonight, they asked me to do this, and what a great honor it is.  Dierks, we're proud of you, this is a plaque that says:

"The Grand Ole Opry congratulates Dierks Bentley celebrating 10 years as a member of the Grand Ole Opry, Grand Ole Opry House, Nashville, Tennessee."
That makes it official, congratulations, Dierks!

Dierks:  That really means a lot ya'll may have to break my ban of hanging stuff on the walls cause that's gotta go up somewhere in my house that's really cool....the guys in the band they share this with me."

Then Dierks introduced his band:  Brian Layson, Dan Hochhalter, Cassady Feasby, Steve Misamore, Tim Sergent.  "They all share in this."

Bill:  On your 10th anniversary ,we can't let you get away without one more song.  Congrats and I hope someday you can stand here and do this for somebody celebrating 10 years when you've been here for 54!  Thank you, pal!

Dierks:  What do you get at 50 years, Bill? Do I get like a new car or something?

Alright, well this is off the new record, Riser.  This is our new single and probably my favorite song I've ever recorded and I send it out to all the folks who have gone through tough times, are going through tough times...country music fans are the most resilient fans I've ever met in my life and the stories I hear on the road and every town, every show we play I'm always inspired by our fans...and I send this out to some I see out in the front row who traveled a long ways to get here and come to a lot of shows so, it's called, Riser--check it out.

Song #6:  Riser

That was for you, Dalton.  God bless you, buddy. Thank you Grand Ole Opry appreciate you guys so much.  Looking forward to working on year number 11.

Bill Cody:  On his 10th anniversary, and 90 years of the Opry.  What a night to be here.  He is a Riser.  Yes he is.  He's Dierks Bentley, everybody!  Grand Ole Opry member on a Tuesday night.  To a standing ovation as you listen to us around the world.  The Opry House is full and they're all on their feet as the big red curtain comes down.

Dierks Bentley Performs "I Hold On" on The View on ABC

"You didn't think we were gonna let Dierks Bentley leave here without singing his hit song that will be, I think, the country music anthem of the summer, did you?" teased Whoopi Goldberg on The View this morning.  We sure hope it's a hit, Whoopi!

After 24 hours of hints, Dierks debuted his newest single from the upcoming album, Riser.  "I Hold On" has been a DBC rep favorite since his first Locked and Reloaded performance of the autobiographical song in January.  It is his most personal composition to date, co-written with Brett James.

Dierks was to co-host The View, but he didn't get much talk time.  Alison Bonaguro said what we were thinking:
"I wish I could say the rest of The View was as moving as his performance. But, well, it wasn't...the last four minutes of the show when he performed were the best four minutes of the show."
Jake, DB's part Spitz and part one-night-stand dog, fit right in with the theme of the episode--The 5th Annual Mutt Show.  Dierks thanked Southwest for being so nice to fly Jake to NYC:

While we have to lay "Bourbon In Kentucky" to rest for now (radio didn't get behind the melancholy song so Capitol opted to go with something more up tempo), we will rally behind this new Riser cut and request radio DJs to hold on to this summer song like Dierks holds on to all the things he loves.

Watch Dierks and the guys perform, "I Hold On."

After he sang, The View ladies did give him a chance to talk about raising over $500,000 for the Prescott Firefighters families, but it felt rushed and like an afterthought--would have been great conversation for the couch!  Just sayin!

As soon as we find out when "I Hold On" goes to radio and when it will be available digitally, we'll let you know asap!

Halloween with the Bentley's

Most kids look forward to Halloween because of all the free candy.  Dierks looked forward to it because of.... explosives? In an article on GACTV.com, DB discusses his past Halloween tradition of blowing things up and what he plans to do this year:

For Dierks Bentley, Halloween was another holiday he could use as an excuse to get his hands on explosives.
"When I was a kid, I was all into fireworks," Dierks said.  "Growing up in Arizona, we couldn't get 'em so we'd have 'em shipped in illegally.  I still remember the name of the guy we'd call.  His name was Joe, and he's bring in, ship 'em in a package with no writing on 'em.  We were all about M-80s in the mailboxes and bottle rocket wars.  To me, as a kid, Halloween was fireworks, was blowing up stuff around home."
Halloween is a little tamer for Dierks these days.  As the father of two young girls, Dierks is letting his older daughter, Evie, call the Halloween shots, including what Mom and Dad are going to dress up as.
"Evie's got her Halloween costume picked out," he said.  "She's decided what everyone's gonna be this year in our family.  So, she's gonna be The Little Mermaid, and her younger sister's gonna be a crab.  I think his name is Sebastian.  I don't know The Little Mermaid that well, but she's decided Jordan's gonna be the crab.  And she wants me to be Swiper, who's a character from a TV show called Dora, The Explorer.  I think she has Cassie going as Dora."
It sounds like Halloween will be a family affair... even Jake and George were getting in on the costume action!  Here's some pictures that Dierks tweeted earlier this week:

We can only hope that we get a pic of Dierks as Swiper...  I think we'd all laugh. A lot. haha!

Happy Halloween!!

Dierks Ready for N. Myrtle Beach & Reveals AITOO Video Star

Dierks Bentley's next stop on the Jagermeister Country Tour is Thursday (April 14, 2011) at the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach, SC.  No doubt DB Congress reps in GA, SC and NC are looking forward to the nearby DRT (Dierks Road Trip), and hearing DB sing his new single, "Am I The Only One?" live and in person!

Steve Palisin from thesunnews.com recently interviewed Dierks by phone and found out that the video for "Am I the Only One?" will come out in about a month, according to Dierks.  Fans who like looking for his longtime white pooch, Jake, a star in Bentley's videos from the start with "What Was I Thinkin'?" won't be let down, either.  "He made a cameo in the new video," Bentley said.

Bentley, whose first name reflects his mother's maiden name, just put on his father's cap again. He and wife Cassidy, his high school sweetheart from Phoenix, welcomed a second daughter three months ago, joining their 21/2-year-old at home in Tennessee.

Getting back to the House of Blues, which he called a "great-sounding room," Bentley said he always tries to recline a bit on the sands.

"I love Myrtle Beach, and I love that coast," he said.

Family Life With Baby Bentley

Still no photos of new baby girl Jordan Catherine Bentley, but daddy Dierks shared with Kix Brooks on ACC Top 40 how he and his family are adjusting to life since the arrival of their second daughter on Christmas day:

"Going from zero to one is a lot more difficult that going from one to two," says Dierks. "She just kind of fits right in there, and you just dust off a few of the old baskets and swings and stuff and set 'em back up again and just do it."

Jordan has a big sister named Evie, but she hasn't met her brothers yet. Of course, we're talking about Dierks' dogs Jake and George, who have been at a friends' house for the last three weeks. Dierks says, "We're kind of waiting to bring them back into the fold. They're more maintenance than the kid is. They're like big, barking all the time, going crazy." Dierks plans to let his pups smell a few of Jordan's blankets before he introduces her to them.

RECORDING STUDIO ESSENTIALS FOR DIERKS' NEW ALBUM

Results from the poll of which Christmas song you would most like to hear Dierks Bentley sing have been tallied, and "I'll Be Home For Christmas" earned 35% of the votes, followed by my choice, O Holy Night at 21%. As for a DB Christmas album, it's not likely at least until 2011, since Dierks is working on two new albums for a 2010 release--neither of which are holiday tunes.

The Bluegrass album is due out first--possibly in the spring, followed by a regular album later in the year. But as we all know, Dierks' artistic talent yields nothing but extraordinary results--nothing "regular" about it.

Dierks is wasting no time, as he was back in the studio the day after Christmas, and shared the secret ingredients for a studio record on Twitter/Facebook...

"budlight, several types of whiskey, coffee, water and a dog named jake...essential studio "must haves" for this record. #fb"

ROAD DOGS DIERKS AND JAKE MAKE THE COVER OF COUNTRY WEEKLY

Country Weekly's September 21 issue is on sale now! Not that I ever miss buying the magazine every single week, but this week is special! Dierks Bentley is on the cover with his best friend Jake! And this is the second time this year CW has made us Dierks fans very happy by recognizing him as the featured artist on their cover. Seems to me the CMA could learn a lot from Country Weekly!

The article, a six-page spread, surrounds a day in the life of two road dogs - Dierks and Jake. The particular day of interviewing and photo shooting was August 18 in Atlanta, Georgia at The Tabernacle. It's exciting to know I was there that day and got to watch the photo shoot along side many DBC-ers!

Now I could scan in all 6 pages and post them here for you, but what better way can we show our appreciation to CW than to run out and buy our own personal copy? What I will do is share a few of my favorite quotes from the article:

"It's tough. I'm so lucky that Cass totally supports me. She knows this is my dream. Without that I couldn't do it."
(on being on the road)
"More than anyone else, Jake has seen me at my lowest points...he was there through all of that unpleasant, soul-searching time."
(on his best canine friend)
"They get excited, I take that energy backstage and make it my own when I go on stage...It makes the show more personal."
(on meeting fans in the parking lot)
I always make it a point to send a thank you email to CW Editor In Chief, Larry Holden, for any and all Dierks exposure. I want him to know how much I appreciate it. So when I found out a few weeks ago this DB issue was coming, I sent Larry an email and this was his reply:

"Hey, Ronna, we at CW are also extremely happy that Dierks is back on our cover. And, here’s a little known fact—it was Jake who asked him to do it for us!

Larry"

In addition, Dierks is also mentioned throughout the issue on pages 29, 31, and 49, so make sure you get your copy today! I promised Larry lots of sales for this one, so make me proud, DB Congress!

DIERKS AND JAKE COVER COUNTRY WEEKLY!

So, I opened my email and saw one from Country Weekly for the sneak peak at an upcoming issue--you know, the survey that makes you choose one:

*I like this cover and I'd buy it,
*I don't like this cover but I'd buy it anyway,

But there was no option to say "I LOVE THIS COVER,WHEN CAN I BUY IT!"

Dierks Bentley on the cover of Country Weekly - AGAIN! Well, this time not so solo, but we love Jake, too. He is such a sweet dog! And the best part is, I was there with a lot of my DB Congress buddies to experience the photo shoot! Details at the Atlanta Tabernacle blog.

This will be the September 21 issue on sale September 14.

THANK YOU COUNTRY WEEKLY! You just made my day!

*EDIT 8/28/09: Please keep in mind this is merely a test cover. Since I am part of the survey panel for CW covers, this was a test version and not necessarily the final version. Images, headlines and other things can change; changes can be caused by breaking news and such.

VOTE JAKE BENTLEY FOR 'FIRST' DOG!

Our friends Lauren and Erin over at the infamous Country Music Is Love website are running a poll to see who you think is the cutest country dog! I think we all know it's Jake Bentley, but apparently the fans who are voting at CMIL.com are not convinced! Jake is in third place!

Go vote now, DB Congress, for our "first" dog--Jake Bentley! I think George (photo left) should be nominated, too! Oh, in case you haven't figured it out yet, the dude in the center is our president-retro Dierks Bentley!

DIERKS BAILS OUT BIG WHITE

Dierks Bentley posted a few videos on his You Tube channel. Check out the 30 second clip where he spent a little too much time on Lower Broadway one night and ended up having to to go find his trusty friend, "Big White."

Also, Rhapsody's 30 second ad on "Country fans get it" includes our very own DB Prez, and his dog Jake.

DIERKS TAKES JAKE TO THE CMT MUSIC AWARDS

Our friends at theboot.com posted our prez as their photo of the week!

I think we all know by now that Dierks took Jake as his date to the CMT Music Awards--trotting around on all fours on the red carpet and sittin' pretty in the chair in the audience next to daddy Dierks. And, D kicked off the show with a performance of Sideways. (starts at the 5:05 minute mark).

And, he won the award for "Country Boy" CMT Performance of the Year (with Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Brad Paisely). Keith Urban performs first, then the award presentation.

And, if all that wasn't enough to make a great night...he got kissed--on the mouth--by Melissa Peterman. Well, OK--that part was not so great, as you can see by Dierks' "tweet" from backstage. Oh, and will somebody puh-lease teach Bill Engvall how to pronounce "DIERKS" --with as S!

CW CAPTURES DIERKS MOMENTS

In the June 29, 2009 issue, Country Weekly treats us to a two-page spread of Dierks photographic memories! Photos include Dierks on his bike, hockey, Jake, on stage, and ATV-ing, but my favorite is Daddy Dierks showing Evie the 'wonders of the world from a tour bus.'

Later in the same issue, Dierks gives us some words to live by:

And, Dierks is pictured at the top of the Charts page--credited for co-writing his latest Top 10 hit--Sideways. Help make it a #1! Call your DJ or click on Yes.com!

Let's make sure we tell CW how appreciative we are for all the Dierks love! Send them an email today at letters@countryweekly.com.

DIERKS PERFORMS AND TALKS WITH BONNIE HUNT

Not only did Dierks get to perform "Sideways" on The Bonnie Hunt Show, but he also got some major "couch" time--7 minutes and 12 seconds, and talked about everything from Australia, to how he got started in the music business and how his career came full circle to the Opry, to Evie, Jake and George.

BH: You look like you could be from there (Australia)
DB: They're big on music, surfing and pubs...those are things I could get into!

DB: I ended up becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry...which is still one of my greatest accomplishments...I really love the Opry and everything it stands for.
BH: Aww that's really nice. (What? Nice? Where's the applause people!)

DB: Jake thinks he's like the third member of the marriage.
BH: I just love the way you read his mind!

Watch for yourself!
