With “Gone,” Dierks Bentley is Back!

All day long, all day long, I’ve been sitting on the couch watching Dierks Bentley all day long!

In Dierks’ new single releasing today (10/22/20) at noon EST on radio, he may sing a lot about being “Gone,” but he’s definitely back! The melody is catchy and the lyrics are cleverly written by Nicolle  Galyon, Ben Johnson and Niko Moon and produced by David Garcia. 

On The Bobby Bones show this morning, Bobby asked Dierks if this was a new producer after playing a clip of "Gone." 

"That's good ears! I think every album you want to make it feel like the first time.  I was looking to be inspired, writing with Hardy and David Garcia, having so much fun writing with them and just enjoyed it and really got to know David well. I'm always trying to make it feel new. There's this main theme in all my music which is trying to mix bluegrass with the kickass, trying to mix the dobro and banjo with big guitars and big drums--always trying to find a way to do that better.  So I love what David does, he produced and wrote "Meant To Be" for Florida Georgia Line and he has that sensibility like Ross Copperman does, and taking what I know--the banjo, dobro and fiddle and incorporate those two sounds, so it sounds new to me.  The fact that you [Bobby] picked up on that means the world to me because I'm trying to tweak it a little. I don't want to do the same thing every time."

His buddies, boss, momma and neighbors all think he’s the physical kind of gone, but it’s his mind that’s missing after a breakup, “trying to figure out how a good thing went wrong.”  But it’s Bentley’s heartbreakingly poignant vocal that takes the break-up song to a sadder than a “Say You Do” country song low.

When we first heard it ‘live’ on the online fan wall of the iHeartCountry festival, “Gone” was not leaving our ears, all up in our heads for weeks! We were hooked on that piano intro!

Time to do your duty, DB Congress reps! After you hear it on radio today, start requesting the song through your local country radio DJs.

Dierks Bentley Performs "I Hold On" on The View on ABC

"You didn't think we were gonna let Dierks Bentley leave here without singing his hit song that will be, I think, the country music anthem of the summer, did you?" teased Whoopi Goldberg on The View this morning.  We sure hope it's a hit, Whoopi!

After 24 hours of hints, Dierks debuted his newest single from the upcoming album, Riser.  "I Hold On" has been a DBC rep favorite since his first Locked and Reloaded performance of the autobiographical song in January.  It is his most personal composition to date, co-written with Brett James.

Dierks was to co-host The View, but he didn't get much talk time.  Alison Bonaguro said what we were thinking:

"I wish I could say the rest of The View was as moving as his performance. But, well, it wasn't...the last four minutes of the show when he performed were the best four minutes of the show."

Jake, DB's part Spitz and part one-night-stand dog, fit right in with the theme of the episode--The 5th Annual Mutt Show.  Dierks thanked Southwest for being so nice to fly Jake to NYC:

While we have to lay "Bourbon In Kentucky" to rest for now (radio didn't get behind the melancholy song so Capitol opted to go with something more up tempo), we will rally behind this new Riser cut and request radio DJs to hold on to this summer song like Dierks holds on to all the things he loves.

After he sang, The View ladies did give him a chance to talk about raising over $500,000 for the Prescott Firefighters families, but it felt rushed and like an afterthought--would have been great conversation for the couch!  Just sayin!

As soon as we find out when "I Hold On" goes to radio and when it will be available digitally, we'll let you know asap!

Dierks' Pre-Show Parties To Support Wounded Warriors

Dierks has teamed up with country radio and Believe in Heroes™, a Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP) initiative, for the 2011 Country & Cold Cans Tour. Leading up to Veterans Day on 11/11/11 Dierks will host pre-show parties for select dates on the tour. The first of these parties will be held prior to his show in La Crosse, WI this Thursday, October 6th.

Aiming to support and honor wounded veterans who have sacrificed, each party will be a chance for fans to give back to veterans and win prizes from Dierks, including ticket upgrades, merchandise and autographed limited edition handwritten lyrics of the new single “Home.”

"I meet so many service men and women at our shows, so I love being able to support the Wounded Warriors Project and honoring the heroes who have served our country," said Dierks.

"This program fits perfectly with the message of 'Home,' so we are going to do what we can between now and Veterans Day to really honor these people. I hope fans will plan to get there early and be part of it!"

DIERKS BENTLEY STEPS UP SIDEWAYS TO #11

In a few more weeks, I am hoping to post another blog, and all I'll have to do is change the title by one digit--to #1! I am just so excited that this Dierks single has risen so, so swiftly up the country charts! Now only nine weeks in, Sideways is at #11! Thank you country radio and thank you Dierks Bentley fans and DB Congress Reps for calling and emailing your DJ's, imploring them NOT to play nothin' slow! ("DJ don't ya play nothin' slow!"). Let's keep it going until we get him to #1!

I know you all have seen the official video, but here's a little something different. One of your fellow DB Congress reps in Ohio, Jennifer, shared a line dance of herself and friends at the Dusty Armadillo (choreographed by Chris Hall).



"Dierkside" is another line dance for Sideways. NJ Line Dance Girl posted a step sheet on the 38step blogspot , but I can't find a video of this dance! Who can find it for me?

DBC MEMBER OF THE WEEK

I mentioned in the last blog I wrote that it’s always interesting to hear stories about other DB fans like when they first became a fan, how they promote, or their favorite songs. Maria J. is one of the newest members to join the Congress from Delaware. We haven't had a rep for Delaware, until now, and I'm so happy that Maria has helped fill that void. Let’s learn a little more about our new friend and Delaware rep, Maria!

I already knew that it would be hard to choose just one favorite DB song and album, or it is for me. Haha. Here's what Maria said about her favorite song:

That's a toughie, I love them all and it depends on what I feel like at any given moment.

Maria's Top 5 Favorite Songs:
1) Every Mile a Memory
2) Free and Easy
3) Prodigal Son
4) Sideways
5) Better Believer

She said that her favorite album was Long Trip Alone, but now she really loves Feel That Fire since it has been released. Maria became a fan when the Modern Day Drifter album came out and she heard "Lot of Leavin' Left To Do." This was about the same time when she started listening to Country radio.

According to Maria, the best way of promoting and advertising is by her big Italian mouth! Maria is a graphic artist. She would love to do artistic promotions, but she can't use the programs at work for personal use, and doesn't have those programs available at home.

I really don't think I could tell Maria's story better myself, so here is what she had to say about Dierks and his music:

For the love of the country sound, I took to Dierks and his Band of Brothers right away. I went to a Kenny Chesney concert in Philadelphia and "this guy", whose songs I heard was an opening band. Lo and behold, I ran into the arena to see that it was Dierks Bentley. At the time my husband and I were listening to Sugarland and hanging out at the arena's pub.

After I bought my first DB cd, Modern Day Drifter, and saw him I got a big fat crush. Then I bought his first cd and Long Trip Alone. The more I listened to his music and read on his web site; the more I learned that he was a "be real" person and one who is driven by spirituality and giving. He is one that looks for the positive in people and things and likes to enjoy what he can in life. That sharing all of it with the people in his life such as fans, family, band, bus drivers, friends... actually means a lot.

I get a great message from this. I have a lot of fun listening to him and his band. A few years ago my best friend died and listening to "Long Trip Alone" became the most meaningful song to me. I never tire of listening to DB & the Band of Brothers. It's my feel good music.
