Dierks Bentley and Hot Country Knights 'Crush It' During Las Vegas Valentines Weekend

In a two-night residency at The Chelsea Theater at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Dierks Bentley and his 90's Country band, Hot Country Knights crushed Valentines Day Weekend in back to back "HOT" performances, February 14 and 15, 2020.

While HCK was the opening act, they didn't just break even, they came out ahead! Caylee Hammack had to follow their 'wild and a little crazy, too' performance each night, and she held her own in a sparkly white ice skating outfit that Dierks noted on night two was perfect for the Burning Man On Ice tour, when he brought her out to sing 'Different For Girls' with him.  Before that, she killed it on harmonica in her own set that also included a Lizzo cover.

It's always a safe bet you'll find DB Congress in full force at any Dierks show.  Vegas was a draw for nearly two dozen reps, all supporting the Double dose of Dierks and Hot Country Knights with special Tshirts, thanks to LA rep, Cecia Benoit! See our socials for photos!

Night 1 - After singing Riser, Dierks says, "That's how that song actually goes.  I was sitting side stage and I heard Doug turn my song - an  important song - into a song about erectile dysfunction. Not cool, not cool--this is an important song.  Last week he turned it into a song about Hooters:

I love Hooters, I love 2 for 1 wing Wednesdays with a whiskey shooter
If you're a vegan well you're a loser
And girls at the Vegas location are cuter
And whatever you're watching on your computer...

It's unbelievable, this guy [Doug] is destroying my songs!"

Night 2 -  Dierks's introduces Living - 

"I'm sorry about that I've been drinking a lot and I got the shakes (his hands violently shaking in a motion to the crowd to keep cheering.)  Damn, you guys!  I mean, last night was good but let's be honest, I means boys (talking to the band)...this!? Gotta love a number two.  Thank you so much for kickin' ass tonight.  I'm feeling so good tonight.  I love...how many people here from Vegas tonight? (Loud cheers).  I love Vegas so much.  One of my favorite things about it...the strip is good--it's ok. But if you drive like 40 minutes that way out to Red Rocks Canyon, that's really cool.  That's the shit out there.  And the way you have the best time of your life when you come here is you do a little bit of that out there, you go climb Turtle Head Trail...which I did today in a pair of Vans and no water.  You do that shit and then you come here, you get the best of both worlds.  That's how you do the best "Living." And that's what this song is about, making the most of every moment.  I've packed a lot into these 48 hours and it's one of my favorite places to play." 

Night 2 - Every Mile A Memory - Now with his massive catalog, odds are not great that Dierks will include EMAM in the set, but on night two we got lucky--and felt very loved!

"How many people first time tonight? I know this whole front row section was here last night. How many shows you all been to down here?"  He held the mic up to each hard core fan on the front row...lost count, 51, 68, 35, 98..."98 shows down here folks...you guys gotta get your shit together back there (pointing to the back of the theater)...48, 10, "10? Man, come on you can do better than that," come to the PNW and we will, "I know, I need to..." 57, 40, 23, 2 , 1 - "first one!" Our hard core fans, lotta friends down here..."

Get To Know New DB Congress Rep: Liz Fryman, Promoting Dierks Bentley in Ohio

The year my husband and I got married, Dierks played a local festival and we went to see him. I was instantly in love with all those curls and we both liked his style and music. We began following his music and keeping up with his local tour dates and hoping he’d headline a show soon.

As he became more popular (along with the Internet), I found his website and becoming a part of the fan club seemed like a no brainer! I’d already been a fan since he was out playing small town festivals.

Flash forward to 2018, Dierks plans a three-day music festival in Colorado (Seven Peaks Festival). We are from Ohio but I knew this trip had to happen no matter what. I ordered tickets the minute they went on sale and we started planning our road trip west.

Over the past year, my husband and I have faced a lot of devastating blows, [from] the loss of our nephew who was away with the Army to the loss of our home [due] to a house fire. Music became a survival tool. Riser became my "cry in the car and pray for better days" song. Seeing Dierks perform live always rang through me and reminded me we are Risers.

As we planned for the festival, we thought about ways to decorate our camping spot. We wanted something to catch Dierks' eye so hopefully we could meet him (we never had before).We decided on a Riser bird sign that we could have everyone passing by sign ... and hopefully Dierks would, too! Somewhere in the making of the sign we decided that putting it on old records would look pretty awesome and once we [got] back home we could hang it in our bedroom to always remember our time in the mountains. We made it, we hauled it carefully across seven states, hung it up and prayed for Dierks to come by!

Sure enough, he was buzzing by in a golf cart, and I spotted him coming (it’s a weird sense I have, I can see him a mile away!) so I ran out and flagged him down--and he signed it! I thanked him so much for being him, for his festival, and for every song he’s ever sang. And of course for signing my riser bird.

Burning Man Music Video Is Fire!

It's no surprise a music video with a song title of "Burning Man" would be filmed someplace hot, but even Arizona native, Dierks Bentley, wasn't prepared for what the Palm Springs, Calif., desert held for the video team in the July heat. 

"I’m from Arizona, and this was hot. I felt bad for everyone involved,” Dierks said when reflecting on the video shoot.

Several members of the crew experienced heat stroke, vehicles got stuck in the sand; there was even a rattlesnake tamer with them at all times. 

But ... anything less and this video wouldn't be fitting for the song itself. And the video turned out exactly how they wanted it.

After the sun went down, though, the energy shifted, and the team soaked up the desert air. With the stars out and nothing else in sight, the other side of the burning man came to light.

“We went absolutely crazy,” Dierks said. “It felt so good—we had the music cranking, we were in the middle of nowhere and the stars were coming out. The fun we were having was true to a fault, we didn’t have to fake that at all.”

Joined by Brothers Osborne duo--T.J. and John--"Burning Man" is a reflection on Dierks' life, where he's come from and where he wants to be.

"I live in these two completely different worlds,” Dierks said. “I’m in my house in Nashville right now and I’m about to fly to San Francisco to do a show. And it’s not just physical, but also mentally I am always switching gears and trying to be successful in both of them. One day I’m doing something with [my] four-year-old with a bunch of their moms and the next I’m on stage ... I’m knee-deep in adulthood. I thought it would be fun to sing [this] with someone who doesn’t have three kids and isn’t as far along as I am or as old as I am.”

Directed by Wes Edwards (who also directed "Black," "5-1-5-0" and "Riser"), the video pulls in elements that Dierks fans will recognize from his career journey. It includes footage from every era of his music career, clips of his family, even a subtle nod to his Riser logo. 

Dierks' heart, passion, contemplation, and joy radiate throughout the video, continuing the 2018 trend we've seen from Dierks in his introspective year. 

"I wanted [this video] to be about my own journey in music--how many nights I’ve been on stage and the years I’ve put into this—who I am," he said. He added in a different interview, “This song is a personal reflection and it was important to me that you feel that with the video."

Dierks Art that Lasts Forever

On July 13, DB Congress member Rebecca Scott posed a great question to the Facebook page:

As someone with numerous tattoos adorning my body, I find this to be a perfect question, as I, too, have considered which Dierks lyric or image I should get. I was so excited to see I'm not the only one who feels this way!

DBCers shared their photos and inspiration in response to our question of, "Got Dierks [ink]?" Here is some of the art you shared!

Sandra Bowers Grubb shared, "In Sept. 2012, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and the song "Every Mile A Memory" became my Walk Team name because "Every Mile I Walk is a Memory." The orange ribbon on the butterfly represents MS. Fast forward to 2014 and "Riser" was release, then that one became my anthem. This tattoo reminds me every day that I am a Riser and that I am a fighter, a survivor."

Nicole Snell said, "Here’s my Riser bird/long trip alone db! I wanted a Riser bird as a tattoo because of how much the song Riser means to me, but I wanted to make it unique, and something else I love about Dierks, and so I decided on the db symbol from the Long Trip Alone album. I love that song and album a lot, and always loved that db symbol so I thought it was perfect! I decided I HAD to get a tattoo of him in some way, after all these years of following him around 😉 It’s a perfect tattoo to show me everyday that I’m a Riser, and I get asked all the time what that symbol is and people get to learn about Dierks that way haha"

Elise Benjamin Taylor shared, "My “Riser” tattoo. There are several reasons behind this tattoo, because I’m a Riser. But mostly because my Dad was a Riser and taught me to be one too. His final days were fighting stage IV lung cancer and he fought like a “Riser”. He had a tumor on his spine and we all knew that when it grew he would lose his ability to walk. So up to that point every single day my Dad got up and would work on his farm. Every. Single. Day. Through radiation and chemo he never stopped. He just kept fighting. During this time, my mother in law was also diagnosed with stage IV cancer, and I lost several friends to cancer, other illnesses, accidents and suicide. There were days I was so depressed I didn’t want to get out of bed, but I did, every single day. The song and the album “Riser” helped me through these hard times. “I Hold On” and “Here On Earth” also have so much special meaning. “Riser” will always be my favorite album."

Kathy Butler shared, "It's the LTA db symbol w/ lyrics that have a lot of meaning to me."

Meredith Mauer shared, "I got this tattoo while in Nashville, on an impromptu trip to see Deirks at the Station Inn with Kathy Butler. When Riser came out, it resonated with the with me on several levels. At the time, I was struggling (and still am) with some health issues and the recent loss of my best friend, who was KIA in Afghanistan. This was MY SONG! I incorporated the American flag into the Riser bird, and placed it on my wrist so it would fly proud when my arm was raised above my head. Funny side story to this: after the show at the Station Inn, we got to talk to Dierks and he signed some Hashprints for some fellow DBC members who weren't able to make it to the show. When he saw my tattoo, he did a double take and asked if it was real. He said he asked to send a pic of it to him, which Kathy did for me. I MAY have had a few beers that night, so I proceeded to tell him the story of the flag placement on my tattoo. Then, I went on this long spiel about the history of the way the military carries the flag. Poor guy! 😂😂. My tattoo was also featured in the DBTV video from that night. It was a great night with a lot of laughs."

Cecia Guidry Benoit shared, "I incorporated a few things into my tattoo. There’s the RISER bird because this song means so much to me. The palm trees symbolize “Somewhere On A Beach.” (Dierks is obviously my favorite and the beach is my happy place.) The stars and lightning represents my favorite band, The Cadillac Three, which also represents the Tennessee state flag. All of these things are all inside of a music symbol. I guess you can say it’s kind of a collage of all of my happies! ☺️"

Leanna Gasiewicz shared, "I got this after I called my wedding off, 'my faith your love our freedom is what keeps me going strong' and nothing can hold me back!"

Dierks Reveals New Clothing Line--Desert Son

DB Congress members might have been a little surprised--very happily so--when they received an email this week from Dierks Bentley with the subject line, "Desert Son."

The message contents? Dierks revealed his new lifestyle collection in partnership with Flag & Anthem.

This new clothing line, fit for a son of the Arizona desert, is one Dierks himself has described as "authentic." For now, according to Dierk's team, "the initial spring offering will feature primarily men’s items including vintage-washed tees, raglans, hoodies and hats along with a handful of women’s tees. Desert Son will continue to roll-out with 2018 summer and fall assortments including button-down shirts, knit tops, denim and jackets."

With many DBC reps making their own Dierks attire, I'm going to assume I'm not alone in my elation over so many new Dierks clothing options (especially for women!).

"This has been such a fun thing to create and develop. I love clothes that are perfectly worn-in like you’ve had them a lifetime, but can also take the wear and tear that comes from an active lifestyle,” explained Dierks. "I’ve learned over the last few months that there’s a real art to getting that just right. The Flag & Anthem guys have been doing it at the highest level and have helped me put together a collection that I think is totally authentic to me and one that hopefully people all over the country will dig, too.”

With Arizona roots and recent inspiration from the Colorado mountains (that led to his upcoming album The Mountain and his Mountain High Tour), Dierks seems to be on a path of self-reflection. Everything he has touched so far in 2018 has an autobiographical feel. And we are loving it!

Flag & Anthem seems to appreciate this journey, as well, and feels it fits in line with who they are.

Behind the Scenes at GMA's Block Party, Featuring Dierks Bentley

The summer of 2017 held countless barbecues and block parties for DB Congress reps around the country. But there is one block party that brought a few DBC reps together and had the entire nation looking in--and it featured our president, Dierks Bentley.

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Good Morning America with King's Hawaiian hosted a Summer Block Party in Austin, Tx. The location was selected as the host site as a result of a contest that was announced in May. Thousands of photo and video entries were submitted, all vying for the chance to host a summer concert with Dierks Bentley, right in their neighborhood. While a DBC member wasn't selected, a handful of reps had the opportunity to attend. It was a morning they will never forget (and the lost sleep was completely worth it).

GMA host Ginger Zee, when gearing up for the show, even had the chance to talk with DBC reps in the audience.



Here is a behind-the-scenes look from Texas DBC Lobbyist Meredith Mauer:

"[Attending the block party] was unplanned and unexpected on my part, so when I found out at 10:30 p.m. the night prior that this was happening, I made the decision that I was just going to be pulling an all-nighter!

"I downed a couple cups of coffee, threw on my jeans, boots, Riser hat, and DB Congress sweatshirt before heading out the door for my 2-hour drive. When I reached the neighborhood where the block party was taking place, the whole place looked pretty much asleep. I parked my car, then headed to the stage area on foot, walking by a sleeping [Dierks Bentley] Goldie Bus. It was literally set up in the middle of the street, with homes on both sides. Production equipment and tents were set up in front yards, and there were maybe a dozen people present when I got there. ... Over the next couple hours, I watched a few more people trickle in and listened to the production meeting in front of the stage, so I was able to get a general idea on how this was going to play out.

"The area in front of the stage was set up for VIPs on the left, first responders in the center, and ADA accessible on the right. The area directly behind was for the first 200 people in line with wristbands. The area behind them was pretty much general admission with wristbands. Those who live on the street were given lawn passes, which allowed them to watch the concert from the lawn on the left side of the stage. I'm not exactly sure how many showed up, but I did hear someone mention 1,000 people were expected.

"Once 5 a.m. rolled around, it didn't take long for the crowds to start flooding in. King's Hawaiian sponsored the block party, and provided a fun area for concert goers to grab a water, a sandwich made with their yummy rolls, a t-shirt, sunglasses, and some game fun, such as a giant game of Jenga. Standing on the lawn with those who live on the street, I spent some time talking to a few. I didn't realize that at one point I was standing next to Scott and Ashley Cooper, the winners of the block party. I learned that the block got to enjoy watching Dierks and the guys do a soundcheck the day prior, and Dierks spent some time with the Coopers.

"Once GMA started on the East Coast, things started happening. Without a doubt, it was a production put together for live TV. There was a crew of about 10 people there from GMA New York. There was a live teleprompter attached to the camera near me, and I watched it scroll as Robin Roberts was speaking in NY. ... Before coming to the stage, Dierks was escorted into the crowd to do a quick live shot in the middle of the crowd, saying "GOOD MORNING, AMERICA!"

From there, they took him to the King's Hawaiian party tent, and did another live shot of him playing Jenga with a child from the crowd. Meanwhile, our guys from the band came up on stage for a short soundcheck. From the look on Cassady's face, it looks like they may have just crawled out of bed on a cold, dark morning!

"They warmed up with "I Hold On," with Carlos strumming along using Dierks' guitar. Those of us in the lawn were able to participate in a number of live shots, from the weather with Ginger Zee to Dierks passing between us on the way to the stage. Of course, what was live on television took a few minutes prior to set up. I only participated in the live shot of Dierks heading to the stage. I was standing closest to the stage with my DB Congress sweatshirt on!

This is why no one saw me in the crowd. I was in the lawn next to the stage. #representing @dbcongress #GMABlockParty #DierksonGMA

"Dierks played five songs. He performed "5-1-5-0" while it was still dark out, then talked to the crowd a little bit about his time in the neighborhood. About 18 minutes later, he got on stage and joked about being so cold (it wasn't, really) and the irony of his next song "Somewhere on a Beach" for a GMA live performance. At least the sun was coming up at this point!

"He then joined the first responders in front of the stage for some pictures, selfies and a live shot. They were some excited fans! It tickles me to see others appreciate the great guy Dierks is! Soon after, Ginger did a live interview with Dierks from the stage where he praised the first responders, mentioned the tragedy in Las Vegas, talked about the movie "Only The Brave."

"For the next live shot, they brought the Coopers, their neighbors and the first responders on stage. He performed one more song for the crowd, "Riser," then was whisked away to catch his shuttle to NY for his appearance on Fox News with Dana Perino.

"As the crowd dispersed, I waited to walk back by the buses to my car. I was glad to find my car wasn't towed, and drove off to find my next cup of coffee for the drive home. It was definitely worth the all-nighter!"

With recent (potential award) buzz about Dierks' hit song, "Hold the Light" for the movie "Only the Brave" and his advocacy for first responders in light of the Las Vegas tragedy, more and more people are learning about the man we already know and love. This was one more way for the DBC and the country to see him in action. What an unforgettable morning!

Cassidy Bentley Runs Boston Marathon for Charity Featured in "Riser" Video

This Monday, every mile will most certainly be a memory for Cassidy Bentley as she tackles the prestigious Boston Marathon!

Wife to our president, Dierks Bentley, and mom to their three adorable kids, Cass qualified for Boston for a second year—a winning feat unto itself. To even enter this event, she needed to run 26.2 miles in less than 3 hours and 45 minutes. (It’s clear to see why Dierks wrote Feel That Fire!)

"I've taken a lot of pictures with [Dierks] over the years in full, professional hair and makeup... But when I see pictures of me after races, sweaty and spent and proud and smiling, I feel a wave of recognition of my true self." 

As Taste of Country said, she’s absolutely gorgeous, “but her heart might be the most beautiful thing about her.” She’s not running Boston for the medal (well, not for only the medal); she’s doing it to raise awareness and support for the Safe Haven Family Shelter in Nashville.

"This year, I wanted to find a way to use my run to connect with people and help others," she said on her fundraising website. "I wanted to give it meaning beyond crossing the finish line or achieving a certain time (although I do want to do that, too!)."

Cass describes Safe Haven as an organization that “keeps families who are homeless together, provides them with shelter and eventually permanent housing along with the therapy, support and training needed to gain self-sufficiency and rebuild their lives.”

Well, that’s a cause all of us can stand behind, even if we can’t run for it.

So she’s taken to the streets (and the treadmill!) to run in their honor.

And the donations have been pouring in ever since. In fact, she's raised $18,485 in the last six weeks. A couple familiar donations listed on her page include gifts from Nicole Kidman, Bobble Bones, Sheryl Crow (who performed with Dierks at Legends last week) and, ahem, a rather large gift from Doug Douglason (Dierks' Hot Country Knights alias, anyone?)! You, too, can still donate to Safe Haven for another four days!

The Bentley’s support of Safe Haven is years in the making. Dierks' notable “Riser” music video even featured a family whose life was changed through the support of this shelter.

“I’ve seen up close the incredibly important, desperately needed, inspiring work they do,” Cass said. “I’m thrilled to be running in their honor and in honor of present and future families who need Safe Haven.”

What started 11 years ago as jogging a couple miles to pass the time while her husband was on the road has turned into a notable running career that has the power to positively influence countless families.

Dierks and the kids are known for their unwavering support of Cass while she runs (though their daughter Jordan fully believes her mom should focus on winning). With signs, photos, and cheers to carry her along (and the thousands of comments she’s received through her Instagram and Facebook pages), she knows she’s not alone in this run.

“I’m so proud of Cassidy and it’s so fun watching her get ready for this race,” Dierks said in a recent article. “It takes months and months of preparation and determination to pull this off.”

The only question we have now is: Does she listen to Dierks on her running playlist?
