Go team Dude! Dierks and the guys didn't let geography squash their Olympic fever. While Sochi was not on the tour list, Niagra Falls was, and they found a local Curling Club to test their athletic ability! Could this experience make them trade in their hockey sticks for curling equipment?

Feature DB Congress Rep of the Week: Greg Birkmann, Missouri
Our newest DB Congress rep, Greg Birkmann, has been a Dierks Bentley fan since "What Was I Thinkin'," and recently emailed us to see what the congress thing is all about, wondering if it would be for him. Apparently it is, because he joined the congress, representing Missouri, and agreed to tell his Dierks story below!
"I've always been a fan of Dierks' music, since "What Was I Thinkin'". I like how he keeps the traditional sound of country, and throws in a bluegrass sound combined with his own rowdy style.
I have to admit, although I've always really liked his music, I didn't really get to know him as a person until last summer when his dad passed away. I began reading about his passing online, and before I knew it, I was watching every DBTV episode, past interviews, and was really impressed by how much he interacts and involves his fans in his work. Being a huge fan of country music, and an amateur guitar player & vocalist, I grew great admiration for Dierks.
I wanted his autograph, and soon learned about the Congress group and presale offers along with meet & greets, so I joined the fan club. To my surprise, I was accepted the first time I submitted a request for a meet & greet, and got to meet him last June in Columbia, MO.
I was in a group of 9 people for the M&G, and when he walked in the room, he looked right at me and said, "A few familiar faces." I didn't really know what that meant at the time, but when I talked to him one on one, he said, "We've met before, haven't we?" I said no, and then he looked at me and said, "We have the same haircut." I thanked him for making it cool!
I left the M&G thinking he was about the most sincere artist towards his fans I've ever known. We recently all found out how sincere he is to his home state, along with mankind, with the "Country Cares" event. I'm now a die hard Dierks fan, and as weird as it sounds, I think of him as a buddy or bro!
I'm happy to help promote Dierks by doing what I can. I look forward to helping team Dierks!"
Thanks, Greg! Welcome to the DBC family! Be sure to check out the Campaigns!

DIERKS BENTLEY WRAPS COUNTRY & COLD CANS: BACK TO COLLEGE TOUR
Nashville, TN – Aug. 24, 2012 – Country music star Dierks Bentley wrapped his Country & Cold Cans: Back to College Tour Wed. night when he and a sea of fans stormed Ole Miss’ legendary tailgating grounds, The Grove. The college leg of the tour hit two additional SEC campuses this week, The University of Georgia and The University of South Carolina, to toast the release of Bentley’s new COUNTRY & COLD CANS EP that is now available on iTunes.
The tone of the jam-packed week was set Mon. afternoon when fans joined Bentley for a high-energy video shoot at the Georgia Theatre for his new single “Tip It On Back.” The party spirit spilled into the night at UGA’s Legion Field and continued with a sold out crowd at USC the following day.
“This week was a total blast…the shows were killer, and the crowds were big and loud. I think having a BYOB set up probably helped that," laughed Bentley. "We topped things off at Ole Miss by crashing a late night house party for a few rounds of flip cup and beer pong. It's been a little while since I was in college, but it wasn't hard for any of us to fall right back into it. It was the perfect way for me to end summer, and I can't wait to do it again next year!"

“Country music and cold cans went hand-in-hand Tuesday night as everything ‘got a little sideways’ with country singer Dierks Bentley stopping by Columbia’s Tin Roof to give USC students an end-of-the-summer party to remember.” – The Daily Gamecock

Dierks Sells Out Red Rocks! DB Congress Reps Came From Near and Far!
![]() |
| "This is what 8000 cell phones looks like #RedRocks" Tweeted by Jay Ballinger |
Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a geological phenomenon – the only naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect amphitheatre in the world, with an elevation of 6,450 feet in Morrison, Colorado. It literally and figuratively takes your breath away. From Sting and The Beatles, to opera stars and U2, every artist aspires to play on this magical, spiritual and emotional stage.
Dierks Bentley has performed at Red Rocks twice before and I was there both times! This year, on August 16, 2012, he sold out ALL 9,450 seats and I'm sad to say I wasn't in one of them! But many of our DB Congress family were! Dierks was excited to say the least and went on a Twitter picture spree:
Long term Colorado DB Congress rep, Janet Cornish, shared with us her top three highlights of the Red Rocks show:
- The performance with Evie (Dierks' daughter) was a special treat--brought Dierks to tears as well as "My Last Name" being it was his dad's birthday.
- Pat Green coming out during his set and said "Hey y'all Bentley sold out Red Rocks." That's all he said and left the stage. Of course Dierks was bubbling with the sell out.
- All the cell phones lit up during "Home." It was a special sight to see.
"A fight broke out which involved me. Some girl decided to pull my hair so I would move. But Monica (her daughter) and the people around us got me out of the way before they punched. After they pulled my hair the girl standing behind Monica grabbed the girl by the hair and pulled her to the ground. Monica got punched in the arm trying to get me out of the way before they got her out of there. Dierks watched the whole thing unfold right in front of his microphone. During the M&G at Red Rocks, Dierks asked Monica if we were okay and said he was sorry for the rude behavior. Now how sweet was that! Monica said we were all fine and the worse part was 'they picked her favorite song to start trouble'."
That favorite song was "Tip It On Back," which should have helped those "special" concert-goers to mellow out--it didn't.
Kathy Butler flew in from Indiana and met up with fellow DB Congress reps David Mattingly (KY), and Heather Jensky (IL).
"The highlight of my trip was just being there at Red Rocks with my DB Congress friends who are as passionate as I am about Dierks' music," says Kathy. "Of course seeing Evie on stage was special and the fact that it was D's dad's 89th birthday seemed to make him more emotional." We actually knew he was going to do "Thinking of You" because earlier while we were having lunch we could hear him rehearsing it. The cell phones all lit up made for cool pictures."

| Heather, David, and Kathy at Red Rocks - 8-16-12 |
The next day is a memory David say he will forever cherish. "Learning some of the history of Red Rocks was interesting to me. Just so glad that I got to witness my favorite artist at this historical venue. You could tell he was having a blast! The rock formations made for some awesome lighting effects - loved that! It was all kind of surreal at the time, but it is a memory that will last forever. Dierks said he can't wait to go back and I can't wait to see him there again!"
Dierks and daughter Evie sing "Thinking Of You" from his Home album. This is only the second time he's had her on stage singing with him. The first being at his Home CD release party at the Ryman.

Start Requesting Dierks Bentley's New Single, Congress: Tip It On Back
![]() |
| Capitol Nashville |
Email us, Tweet us, Post on our DB Congress Facebook page...we'll get it added to our "Campaigns" page so everyone can vote for our president! Let's each dedicate 5 minutes daily to requesting the song and get it to #1--because we're just not gonna stop at 10!
"...for a couple of hours we can run this town, 'til it runs dry!"
Taste of Country had this to say about the single: "'Tip It on Back’ is a great late summer groove to be used to peel back a layer of impenetrable heat from a dark summer night."
In this week's DBTV-Episode 75, Dierks introduces 'Tip It On Back':
"There seems to be a theme developing in my career this summer... 'tip it on back,' 'country & cold cans,' the opening song to the show 'Weeds,'" laughed Bentley. "When we were recording this album, I knew right away I wanted this song to be a single, and I really hoped we would get to it sooner than later. The fans have been asking for it all summer, so it was a no brainer choice for me."
But the most exciting news? Very soon, we'll be posting an exclusive interview with all three songwriters: Ross Copperman, Tully Kennedy and Jon Nite! Be sure to keep checking back to learn the back story of this special song--the first ever Dierks has released that he didn't write!

Radio Starting to go "Loco!"
In case you haven't heard, Dierks Bentley's new single is "5-1-5-0," and it was sent to radio this past week. It officially goes for adds on April 9th.
But some radio stations nationwide have gotten a head-start on playing the song. Sirius XM's "The Highway" has been playing it in regular rotation since right after Home was released. Stations in Portland, Oregon; Charlotte, NC (woohoo!); St. Louis, MO; Nashville; and Ft. Wayne, IN have all followed suit in the past few weeks.
All of the unsolicited airplay paid off this week, as "5-1-5-0" is this week's 'Hot Shot Debut' at Billboard, coming in at #56. (It has not yet charted at Mediabase, nor is it high enough for me to even track it!) "Home" hasn't even gone recurrent yet!
It sounds like our Prez is ready to get a little "5-1-5-0" this summer, too. Watch the latest DBTV as Dierks talks about the fan reaction to the new single, and how that helped them decide on it as the new single:
Are you ready to get a little loco this summer, Congress? Let's get Dierks his TENTH #1 HIT and THIRD #1 IN A ROW this Summer!!!
