DBC Reps Stand Out In Durant (with a special gift for Dierks, as well!)

For the last 17 Dierks Bentley shows that Cecia Benoit, rep from Louisiana, has attended, she has made a t-shirt to stand out in the crowd. So when she heard a couple dozen DB Congress members planned to attend Dierks' show in Durant, Okla., on Nov. 18, she decided to introduce herself. She never imagined where this offer would take her.

"I was collecting my thoughts to make myself a shirt and I thought I'd like to make myself approachable to other DB Congress members whom I haven't met in person before," she said. "So I decided to put my name and state on it ... adding DB Congress and the Riser bird was a given. I shared my idea with a couple of other ladies who were going, and before I knew it, I was making shirts for ones from every corner of the United States--from Oregon to Maine, from California to Florida."

The shirts were a hit! Cecia ended up making shirts for 12 DB Congress reps from 10 states--all of whom went to Durant for the show. The Dierks Dozen met up at the venue (hours before the velvet rope dropped) and shared their love and passion for "our favorite dude" while standing in line, discussing the "musical gift he has shared with us all."

What started as a 1,200-mile road trip with her friends--Sylvia, rep from Louisiana, and Tracy, rep from Mississippi (who were naturally having Dierks withdrawals)--ended up as a gathering of new friends from across the country. (She even made special sweatshirts for her roadtrip buddies!)

"It made my heart overflow with happiness to have been the brains behind the shirts that all of these beautiful people were rocking."

To top it off, Mary Lou, rep from North Carolina, asked Cecia to make one of the shirts to give to Dierks--just in time for his birthday.

"To see my creation presented to Dierks during the show was icing on the cake. Wow. Just mind blowing!"

Great work, Cecia! Way to represent, ladies!
And Happy Birthday, Dude!

Side note: Did you catch Dierks saying they just finished a new record in that video? Happy birthday TO US!

Happy Birthday To Us, DB Congress!

Happy birthday, DB Congress! Six years ago today, April 21, 2007, the Dierks Bentley Congress formed in "Dierksville" on the old dierks.com site, with just 12 fan club members. Now we're 756 representatives strong and growing every day!

In a November 2006 interview in DeKalb, IL, Dierks said that his fan club was like his "congress." Here's an excerpt:

"I try to keep that connection with the fan club as close as it can be. To me they're like the congress of the fans. They're the elected officials that actually pay money to be in your fan club and I really listen to them and I want them to feel like they're really part of this growth and all this stuff that's happening..."

In early April 2007, "Long Trip Alone" was hovering near the top of the CMT Top 20 Video Countdown, and half a dozen of us fan club members were voting daily on CMT.com. But that was not nearly enough people, and I realized it was going to take an "act of congress" to get the video to #1.  Remembering that interview, I started the official thread (DB Congress Headquarters) in Dierksville on dierks.com. to rally other fan club members to help. And it worked! LTA spent 3 consecutive weeks as the #1 video!

We are
:
We are die-hard and hard core Dierks Bentley Fan Club members who represent our state or country to support and promote Dierks every day in any way we can to make and keep him #1. We are from all 50 United States, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, England, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico and Switzerland.

Our mission
:
Our mission is to promote Dierks daily, using every form of modern media--Blog, Twitter, Facebook, email, text and word-of-mouth. We call radio and request his songs. We vote for him on various websites. We wear his shirts and go to his concerts every chance we get! Click here for "Current Campaigns.

Our history
:
When dierks.com was re-launched in 2009 we lost Dierksville.  So, we started our own website, dbcongress.com, on February 1, 2009 as a way to provide a place to list our reps and campaigns and help everyone keep up with all things Dierks! I had an opportunity to meet Dierks a few days later when the "Feel That Fire" album launched and he told me he could not believe how one little thing he said three years before had become this big thing (DB Congress). In March 2009, Dierks told us he liked the name so much, he wanted to make it the name of the fan club, and asked our permission!  Of course we were honored!

We've even been published in Country Weekly a few times!

It’s an honor to serve as a member of the DB Congress and to be a Dierks supporter for life -- with no term limits! With DB as our President, there’s no tellin' what we might do, no!

"It's been a long hard ride, got a ways to go
but this is still the place that we all call home."

"'cause same, no we're not the same, but that's what makes us strong."
(-Dierks Bentley, "Home")

Happy 3rd Birthday To DB Congress!

We, the members, of the Dierks Bentley Congress, in order to form a more perfect fan club, established this band of brothers and sisters on April 21, 2007 in the now defunct "Dierksville" on dierks.com.

But today, we celebrate our third anniversary of our own site -- dbcongress.com!

Dierks mentioned in a November 2006 interview in DeKalb, IL that his fan club was like his "congress." Here is an excerpt:

"I try to keep that connection with the fan club as close as it can be. To me they're like the congress of the fans. They're the elected officials that actually pay money to be in your fan club and I really listen to them and I want them to feel like they're really part of this growth and all this stuff that's happening..."

We have grown from 9 to 708 reps strong representing all 50 U.S. states, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia. With DB as our President, it is an honor to serve as a member of the DB Congress and to be a Dierks supporter for life -- with no term limits!

"...been a long hard ride, got a ways to go, but this is still the place that we all call home..."

Happy birthday to us!

Are you in the DB fan club? If the answer is yes and you want to help promote Dierks is some small way every day, email ronna@dbcongress.com to be added to the rep page!

Happy Birthday, Mr. President!

Thiry-five years ago today (November 20), our DB Congress president, Dierks Bentley, was born to Kathy and Leon Bentley. Although he grew up in Arizona, DB found his way to Nashville, Tennessee in 1994 and blessed us fans with his talented songwriting, killer vocals, and charismatic personality--not to mention his golden, curly locks and baby blues. (Photo credit Country Weeky Dierks as a boy with dad Leon).

His love for his family-wife Cassidy, daughter Evie and baby #2 on the way--make him even more lovable, but it's his unparalleled appreciation for his fans that truly makes him our favorite country music artist and Dierks Fans For Life!

Dear Dierks,

We the 624 DB Congress members who support you daily, wish you the happiest of birthdays and hope all your dreams for 2011 and beyond come true!

We love you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISSOURI DB FANS

Myspace Comments

What are the odds that three people would have so much in common? DB Congress reps, sftballgrl_04 Stephanie (DBC Historian), brockmeb Bonnie, and kimberlymo Kim, all are big Dierks Bentley fans, they all live in Missouri within hours of each other and they all have a birthday in March! Steph and Bonnie are celebrating today, March 21 and Kim's birthday is Tuesday, March 23!

I have had the pleasure of meeting all three of these ladies through various Dierks events. Originally, we all met via the dierks.com Community but met in person at Last Call Ball and the Opry when Dierks was performing. Their common interest and geographic locale affords them many DRTs (Dierks Road Trips) together, since DB frequently tours in the midwest.

It's amazing how one common interest -- Dierks -- brings us together and holds us together.

Have a happy birthday, Steph, Bonnie and Kim! Hope your day is as special as you are!

JUST ANOTHER DAY FOR DIERKS

Dierks was on Good Morning Arizona on Friday (they gave him a cake for his birthday), the day before the Phoenix Miles & Music For Kids event. Watch the video interview below where he talks about M&M4K, growing up in AZ, moving to Nashville, giving back, being approachable, country fans' loyalty, balancing family time, his boots, his birthday wish, and his wife Cassidy getting him something "black" for his bday...

*Thanks to Meg, DBC rep in FL, for providing the link to the video!
