Greetings From Dierks Fan In Switzerland

Andrea Bissegger traveled all the way from Switzerland to experience the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee in June 2010. She was hoping Dierks Bentley would have a fan club party.

"I was lucky and very happy he gave one (Last Call Ball 6 Concert at the Limelight)! It was awesome. It was my first time meeting Dierks and hopefully more meet and greets will follow. My Mum discovered Dierks first, when I heard songs from him, I liked them right away. He is my favorite artist and I joined his Fan Club to be up to date for any concerts which I might attend. Dierks mentioned at the Limelight [Meet and Greet] when he heard that I'm from Switzerland, that he would come to Switzerland to have a concert soon. I really hope he will!"

When asked how she promotes Dierks in Switzerland, she replied, "In times of Facebook, this is for sure one of the best and fastest ways to promote him."

Her favorite songs are "Free And Easy Down The Road I Go" and "Trying To Stop Your Leaving."

Welcome to the DB Congress family, Andrea!

STRUM MAGAZINE PROMOTES DIERKS

A few weeks before Dierks Bentley's Last Call Ball 6, I received an email from Rick Amburgey of strummagazine.com interested in attending LCB and interviewing Dierks. I referred him to info@dierks.com. Long story short, he was not able to attend, but decided to do a pre-story to promote the event. He asked me some questions and the story below is the result. Sorry I didn't post prior to LCB, but I just found it!

Dierks Bentley to hold annual Last Call Ball
Friday, 04 June 2010 written by Rick Amburgey

Dierks Bentley will hold the Last Call Ball again on June 9, but it’s going to be more than just another fan club party. That’s because this year’s event will also double as a CD release party for his new CD, “Up On The Ridge.” It’s not just limited to members of his fan club and everyone who purchases a $25 ticket to the event, which will be held at Limelight, will receive a copy of the CD.

Ronna Clark, of Brandon, Florida, is the DB Fan Congress chair, which Clark describes as similar to Bentley’s street team. She started DB Congress and said it’s grown from six members to 600 in three years. It was originally started to help promote Bentley and his music.

“Around 2007, “Long Trip Alone” the song was on the CMT Top 20 video countdown, and about half a dozen of us fan club members were voting daily on cmt.com to try to get it to move up to the #1 spot,” she said. “But that was not nearly enough people, and I realized it was going to take an “act of congress” to get the video to # 1 (which we accomplished for three consecutive weeks.)” Clark said the name of the DB Congress was actually inspired by a quote Dierks gave in a 2006 interview.

Clark said the Last Call Ball is one of her favorite events of the year. She describes it as special because it’s the only time of the year that members are virtually guaranteed to meet Bentley. She said that originally only 100 members were going to be able to meet Bentley this year, but he changed it to include all 250 members who registered to attend the event. Fan club members do get a chance at a meet and greet at concerts, but only 20 names are drawn for each concert meet and greet.

Everyone send lots of thanks to Rick for helping us promote our prez., Dierks Bentley! stummagazine.com gets over a million page views a month--that's a lot of exposure for DB!

THE LATE, GREAT, LAST CALL BALL 6

Dierks Bentley has got to be THE most caring and generous country music artist ever! He stayed until 3 in the morning signing autographs and taking pictures with about 250 fan club members! That's dedication!
Doors opened at 10 pm on Wednesday night June 9 at the Limelight in Nashville. The place was packed! Barely enough room to walk around the back of the crowd against the stage. I would guess there were about 1,000 people there since it was not only the Last Call Ball fan club party, but also a CD release party for Up On The Ridge. After attending the CMT Music Awards show, I joined a long line at the Limelight to get in--and that was just the fan club line! Another line just as long was waiting for general public entrance. I'm not as patient as I want to be, but I have to say it warmed my heart to see that many people come out to see Dierks and support him and his new music. The concert was basically the "Up On The Ridge" tour show, which I had not been able to see until now. Here's the set list: Have you noticed how similar Draw Me A Map and Settle For A Slowdown sound in melody? One memorable moment came when Dierks sang Draw Me A Map (videos in 2 parts below) and then Lot of Leavin', then he told a story about getting a speeding ticket..."I guess I should have slowed down..." then he launched into the SFASD melody, but started singing the lyrics to Draw Me A Map. He leaned over to Ronnie McCoury and said, "wrong song", so Dierks had to come clean and admit it and started over and sang Settle (which you won't see on the set list.

Luckily I found a cool spot right in front of a huge fan, since as tradition would have it, it was 150 degrees in there! They played for about 90 minutes!

The meet and greet started around 12:44 and went all the way to 3 a.m.! It was so great to not get "kicked out" as soon as your turn was over. That way I was able to spend some time with all my DB Congress friends and meet some new ones!

It was great to finally meet our DBC Secretary, Amanda and her mamma! Amanda & me:

Good to see Heather, Beth, Stephanie, David, Jodi, Jayme, Lee Ann, Angie, Bonnie, Janet, Holly, Jessica, Jackie, Jacinta, Kristen, Sue, Jane, Rachelle, Joelle, Kim, and Kristin (Thanks for giving me a ride!) I am sure I am forgetting many others--so sorry! We also got to meet Morgan from the fan club administration. Cool to put a face with a name and she could not have been nicer!

Me & Heather:

Me, Steph & Beth:

Jayme, me, Jodi: And it was great to meet new DBC rep, Travis, who came all the way from California. It was his first time meeting Dierks and he said it had been the trip of a lifetime so far! I had an opportunity to introduce him to David, one of our most active DBC reps! David had the DB Congress flag flying high in the parking lot as usual!

We each received a goody bag with a LCB6 Tshirt and an UOTR bottle hugger. It was a great Last Call Ball, and even though it was late, it was well worth every minute! And the fans had to correct Dierks when he said welcome to LCB5---six!

I look forward to the day he says, "Welcome to Last Call Ball 27!"

If you were there, please leave a comment and let us know about your experience!

DIERKS BENTLEY'S 2010 LAST CALL BALL FAN CLUB PARTY SET FOR LATE NIGHT START - JUNE 9, 10PM

Tradition continues for Dierks Bentley's annual Fan Club party, the Wednesday before CMA Fest Thursday. This year though, Last Call Ball 6 is set for a late night start, following the CMT Music Awards. Since Dierks is nominated for an award, he naturally needs to be there to accept when his name is called for Performance of the Year, so the fan-clubbers will have to be willing to wait until 10PM on Wednesday, June 9 for the LCB6 party!

OK, so it's not a given that he will win, and it's not even for sure that he'll make the final four nominees. That's where you come in! Please VOTE and ask all your family and friends to help get Dierks to the next round!

The CMT Music Awards begin at 7PM central on June 9, 2010 (Nashville time), and I know many fans already have tickets to the show AND want to go to LCB6 as well. My best guess is that awards shows usually run about 3 hours.

Details for LCB6 information will be posted soon on dierks.com. Here is the post from today in the Fan Club section:
We know you're very anxious to get the details for Last Call Ball 2010, and we're excited to be able to tell you the date and time of the party this year! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 9 at 10PM in Nashville, TN! That's all we can tell you right now, but we'll be announcing more details and ticketing information soon. As you know, Up On The Ridge comes out on June 8, and you can count on this year's Last Call Ball being quite the celebration... You won't want to miss it!
I'm sure they've already made decisions on the logistics, but I just had to post my two cents:

I hope all fan clubbers who can and want to attend, get the opportunity. I know it's nice to be able to bring a guest, but if it means excluding fan clubbers who really want to be there as opposed to a spouse/friend tagging along for the ride and not really a die-hard fan of DB, I opt for the fan clubber. And for those apprehensive about coming alone--don't be! We're one big DB family! I also hope we get at least a few days notice of when tickets will go on sale, so we can plan and arranges our schedules to be online at that time.

What do you think, congress?
