Dierks in Detroit - Motor City Rocks!

Please welcome guest blogger and "Wolf Pack" member, Stacy Baker, DBC rep in Michigan.  We told you about the Wolf Pak back in February when Dierks was streaming his recording process live from the studio in Asheville, NC.  The fans online watching and chatting were dubbed "The Wolf  Pack," and apparently they are showing up in Meet and Greets with special shirts, like Friday night, May 6, at the Fillmore in Detroit.

"This was our 3rd show this past year, and also my 3rd time with a meet and greet. My husband, Bill, won one but being the great guy he is, he gave it to me. This was the first time we both got one.

The night started out with us seeing Dierks driving his famous jeep down Woodward Ave. It was pretty cool. He waved to everyone and parked it between the buses. Anyway, I decided to make a "Wolf Pack" shirt to wear to the concert. It said "The Wolf Pack "hearts" Stubbs [Dierks' nickname]". Right away when it was my turn, Dierks said how much he loved my shirt. He remembered me from our last meet and greet, which is always nice and shows how thoughtful he is with his fans. He said that the Wolf  Pack was showing up everywhere on the tour. He mentioned something about putting the Wolf Pack in the new album's liner notes.

I had brought a picture for him to sign, so I could hang it with my collection, but I almost wish I had him sign my shirt. I was expecting the "Stacy, God Bless, Dierks Bentley" standard signature, which is what I have always seen him do. But instead he mimicked my shirt and said "Stacy, I love my Wolf Pack, Dierks Bentley". I didn't even realize he had signed it different until I got home. I was too nervous/excited at the time. He told me two more times before we left that he loved my shirt and thanked us all for the Wolf Pack support. He pointed out "camera guy" as well, so I got to say hello to him, too. It was such a great night.

The concert was amazing (of course). He stopped in the middle and said he was going to go off the setlist and do a special song. So it was just Dierks and his guitar singing "Line No. 7," which he wrote about Detroit for Esquire magazine [Available on itunes]. It is such a great song and felt like such an intimate moment between Dierks and our city. He kept saying how nervous he was to perform it, but he did great.

I twittered about it later: "Line No. 7-wow...that's all I can say. Awesome song and crazy, crazy night." A little while later my husband said, "Dierks just re-tweeted you!"  I didn't believe it at first, but sure enough he replied back with "MOTOR CITY ROCKS! Bouncing off walls."

Needless to say, that was a great ending to a great night. Looking forward to seeing him in Nashville next month!"

Steve Wiseman posted some awesome pics he took of Dierks from the show on the WYCD website.  Here are a few below.  Click here to see all the photos.

Canada DBC Rep Meets DB in Windsor

Tania Pomerleau joined the Dierks Bentley Congress (fan club) a little over a year ago and immediately requested to be a DBC rep and Lobbyist for Ontario, Canada. It was difficult to find Dierks CDs in the stores in the Great White North, so a couple of other DBC members sent her a few CDs to help complete her DB collection.

Tania had never been to any concert and she wanted Dierks to be her first. She had never met Dierks either, but here she was promoting him daily through the DBC! Her luck was yet again challenged when the DB Tour date was announced for October 22 in Windsor, Ontario. Tania had issues with logging in to dierks.com and her fan club membership to request a Meet and Greet. Another fan-clubber came to her rescue and she was finally able to login and apply.

Her luck was about to change. She won her first Meet and Greet!

"I had a great first concert experience last night. My friend and I got there and waited to get into the meet and greet. I almost lost my M&G pass just before going in, but I found it stuck to my Dierks Bentley poster, thank God!

I had made a special T-shirt to wear for the night since I hadn't received my DBC shirt yet. He said he really liked it, and I got him to sign it for me as well as the special 18 x 24 inch poster I had made. The poster was done on the back of another poster because I didn't have poster board, so Dierks asked who the other band was.

Dierks was a sweetheart, I'm so glad I was able to meet him! Dierks played my favorite song, 'Free & Easy.' This song has been my theme song for the last five years helping me through hard times. I loved watching him play on that stage--he was so much fun! I've now caught the concert bug! I had a smile on my face the whole night. So glad Dierks' concert was my first!"

Another DBC rep, Stacy Baker from Michigan, also had a M&G with Dierks that night--her second time meeting him. "It was such a great concert. I had front row so I was at the stage the whole time. I'm having Dierks 'let down' now since I don't know when my next concert will be! My husband's friend took pictures for the local radio station at the concert. We were standing by him, so you can see we had an excellent view."

The photographer Stacy refers to is Steve Wiseman from one of our favorite radio stations: CBS Radio 99.5 WYCD in Detroit, Michigan! They are huge Dierks and DB Congress supporters! Below is just one sample of his work.

Steve shared his link to the all the photos he took that night at The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor here.

A Great Day for Dierks Emails!

You may remember Stacy Baker, winner of our DBC "Promote Dierks and Win" contest in July! I asked Stacy to send a picture of her and Dierks but she didn't have one! Stacy has been a Dierks fan since 2003 and has seen him quite a few times but had never met him. Imagine that--she was dedicated to Dierks daily, promoting and voting and calling and requesting and she hadn't even met him yet!

But that all changed July 31, when Stacy won her first Meet and Greet with our DBC president! In fact, the day I emailed her to tell her she had won the contest, she sent me this reply:

"I just got back from vacation and saw this email and the one saying I got into the meet and greet with Dierks for his Battle Creek show next week. What a great day for emails!"

After the show and M&G, Stacy told me, "It was a blast. I was a nervous wreck, but he was sweet. The show was amazing, too. I can't wait for October since I got first row for Windsor!"

She also said that her hubby was "mistaken" a few times as Dierks. "I thought it was pretty funny as I've always thought he kind of resembled Dierks (not if you stood them side by side, but just at a glance) and he never believed me, but so many people came up to him after the show. I think its just the longish hair, stubble and plaid shirt that did it."

As she was going through the pictures to send to me, her 3 year old saw the one of Stacy and Dierks and thought it was his daddy.

Stacy wasted no time in continuing her campaign to request Up On The Ridge, after the concerts. But her local radio was not cooperating. We discussed the thought/hope that Draw Me A Map might be the next single. "I think you are right. In battle creek he introduced Draw Me A Map by saying it was his new single but he didn't say when it would be released. I think that will do good [on radio] because it has the whole romance vibe he is so good at."

Cross your fingers, congress! Then get ready to hit the campaign trail hard!

DB CONGRESS CONTEST WINNER!

Congratulations to Stacy, the winner of our "Vote/Request Dierks and send proof" contest!

DB Congress Michigan rep, Stacy hasn't even had her first Meet and Greet with Dierks Bentley yet. But that doesn't stop her from voting and requesting Dierks music daily! She submitted the three photos below of herself voting on CMT.com, GACTV.com and Yes.com for Up On The Ridge, proving her daily dedication to Dierks! Congrats, Stacy! Your prize pack will be on it's way soon!

Cheryl, DBC rep in Wisconsin, is our Runner Up with some great email exchange with her local Morning Show Co-Host Jenny Clark (AJ), from WYTE-FM Y106.5 after the HODAG Festival:

Isn't Dierks wonderful? I think for letting you touch his hair (lucky lady!!) you could help by getting Up On the Ridge into the Top 20 songs this week. What do you say? If you wouldn't mind, please e-mail me back and I will send you a couple pics I got. My new camera is a bit of a lemon, thus not all my pictures turned out and I am now not a happy Hodager! Otherwise had a great time! Hope you and Pat had an awesome time too!

Hi AJ. Thank you so very very much! So did his hair feel as good as it looks? :)

So keep up the great work, "congrass' (as KY rep Lee Ann would say). Keep calling, emailing, tweeting, texting and facebooking your local DJs! Ask them nicely to please play Up On The Ridge! And always, always thank them when they do!
