Radio Reply of the Week!

While searching for Dierks on bluegrass radio stations online last week, I came across radioio.com and found songs from Bentley's Up On The Ridge CD, so I sent a comment thanking them for playing Dierks! Here's their reply:

"Ronna - I really appreciate you taking the time to e-mail me, and thanks for listening to radioio.

I program radioio’s country suite of channels. I have all of Dierk’s hits in rotation on “radioio Today’s Country,” and I have added most of the tracks from “Up On The Ridge” to “radioio Bluegrass.”

It’s great when a talented artist such as Bentley stretches out and does something a little different. It has paid off, since Bentley’s album sits atop Billboard’s Bluegrass and Country album charts. And I’m glad to see mainstream country radio embracing the single as well.

I wish you continued success with the Congress. And thanks again for taking the time to write."

A Great Day for Dierks Emails!

You may remember Stacy Baker, winner of our DBC "Promote Dierks and Win" contest in July! I asked Stacy to send a picture of her and Dierks but she didn't have one! Stacy has been a Dierks fan since 2003 and has seen him quite a few times but had never met him. Imagine that--she was dedicated to Dierks daily, promoting and voting and calling and requesting and she hadn't even met him yet!

But that all changed July 31, when Stacy won her first Meet and Greet with our DBC president! In fact, the day I emailed her to tell her she had won the contest, she sent me this reply:

"I just got back from vacation and saw this email and the one saying I got into the meet and greet with Dierks for his Battle Creek show next week. What a great day for emails!"

After the show and M&G, Stacy told me, "It was a blast. I was a nervous wreck, but he was sweet. The show was amazing, too. I can't wait for October since I got first row for Windsor!"

She also said that her hubby was "mistaken" a few times as Dierks. "I thought it was pretty funny as I've always thought he kind of resembled Dierks (not if you stood them side by side, but just at a glance) and he never believed me, but so many people came up to him after the show. I think its just the longish hair, stubble and plaid shirt that did it."

As she was going through the pictures to send to me, her 3 year old saw the one of Stacy and Dierks and thought it was his daddy.

Stacy wasted no time in continuing her campaign to request Up On The Ridge, after the concerts. But her local radio was not cooperating. We discussed the thought/hope that Draw Me A Map might be the next single. "I think you are right. In battle creek he introduced Draw Me A Map by saying it was his new single but he didn't say when it would be released. I think that will do good [on radio] because it has the whole romance vibe he is so good at."

Cross your fingers, congress! Then get ready to hit the campaign trail hard!

Dierks in Dallas, A Fan's DB Memories

Almost a year ago, DBC Texas rep, Josette won her second Meet and Greet with Dierks Bentley. It was Sept. 12, 2009 at the Superpages.com in Dallas, Texas. When asked how she got hooked on Dierks, she replied, "I remember seeing his video on CMT for “What was I Thinkin” and I was hooked from that moment on."

Josette continues to describe her first time meeting Dierks: "I met him when Cass was pregnant with Evie and I was getting autographs for my 2 little girls so he had all kinds of questions. He wanted to know what it was like to have 2 girls, if Chloe my oldest loved having a little sister, etc. We stood and talked for a few minutes. He is such a great guy, very down to earth."

Apparently, her feeling for DB runs in the family. "My oldest has had the privilege of meeting him twice and she just loves him. It is so hard to choose a favorite song or album because they are all so great. The song that hits me hard is “Beautiful World.” I chose that song to play during my grandmother’s slideshow at her funeral--it just seemed to fit her and her life. It brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it. Dierks told me he felt honored that I would have chosen his song to play and that he was sorry for my loss. I could go on and on about him and his music. Sorry if I rambled a little."

"Dierks is always so nice and easy to talk to," Josette admits.

That's the same sentiment I have heard from countless DB fans. Have you experienced a Meet and Greet or chance meeting with Dierks? Would you like to share your experience and be featured on DB Congress.com? Just send me an email at Ronna@dbcongress.com for possible posting!
