DBC MEMBER OF THE WEEK: TARA (TJT0906 - NY)

First Name: Tara
dierks.com username: tjto9o6
Location: NY

What is your favorite Dierks Bentley song?
A tie between "Forget About You" and "Wish It Would Break".

What is your favorite Dierks Bentley album?
The self titled, Dierks Bentley.

What is your favorite Dierks Bentley music video?
The second version of "Sideways"….seems to show a “real” Dierks, in the jeep going out into the crowd/fans

What led you to be a fan?
"We do not have any country stations here in NY, my sister got me Sirius in June and I heard "Free and Easy" and loved it, and I had to find out about the guy who sang it. Then, I got tix to see Brad Paisley and lo and behold Dierks was opening. He blew me away! I love Brad, but Dierks…..wow!!! He had energy, enthusiasm and interacted with the crowd so well!! Next day, I immediately joined the fan club to really support him. Got tix to see them again at Madison Square Garden where I got a meet and greet. I was blown away by his kindness and the fact that he responded to a question, and talked with me and told me he liked my shirt. I was so shocked that I was speechless! It was the best night of my life!
"

Has Dierks or his music impacted your life in any way?
"He has inspired me to pick my mandolin back up and freshen up my skills - to remember that music always was a big part of my life, but I lost it somewhere along the way. His music also introduced me to bluegrass, which I really enjoy. His music just makes me so happy and gets me through if I have a bad day."

"Here in NY where Country music is not the most popular genre, I try to wear my Dierks t-shirts and ball caps almost every day and play him in the house when we have company!! I joined the DB Congress so I hope to display the bumper stickers and t-shirts and bracelets with pride. I also vote for Dierks thru all of the DBC links, buy magazines with him in them/on the cover and I send my friends and family links to his music!"
"Just meeting him at MSG and him telling me he liked my shirt…it made my year!! He was so personable and seemed genuinely interested in his fans. But I think I was so star struck that I do not remember what happened after that!! I hope I did not look stupid. Hope to get the chance to redeem myself at another M&G!"

Welcome to the DB Congress, Tara(tjt0906)!

Also, Welcome to lphipps1980(KY), Willingtonf149(CT), GIGI6598(NJ), and sstephe48(MA)! Thank you all!

DBC MEMBER OF THE WEEK - SHON82573

First Name: Shonda
dierks.com username: Shon82573
Location: Lexington, KY

A little about me...I'm a single Mom to the cutest little boy (Adam) who loves to rock out to Dierks in the car. Although he's deaf and wears hearing aids, he still jams out to "Sideways!"

What is your favorite Dierks Bentley song? That's a toss up between "Close Your Eyes" and "Come a Little Closer". HOWEVER, yesterday "The Heaven I'm Headed To" really hit home and was something I needed to hear.

What is your favorite Dierks Bentley album? I think it is the Greatest Hits/Every Mile a Memory because all of my favorite songs are on that cd except "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes."

What is your favorite Dierks Bentley music video? Now THAT is a hard question... I love all his videos, but I'd have to say "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes."

What led you to be a fan? He reminded me of a friend of mine in a way and that's what started my attraction. Since then, I've just gotten into him and I LOVE his music! I got the chance to see him in concert in 2006 as an opening act for Kenny Chesney. I left the show shortly after KC got on stage because I was there to see Dierks. (and my mom was there to see Sugarland-- after that nothing else mattered!)

How do you promote Dierks Bentley? I have bought all his cd's and I even have the RockBand Country pack with his music on it! I am taking a friend to see Dierks in concert next month here in Lexington. I play his music everywhere, and I'm teaching Adam (my 18 month old son) to say "I'm With the Band" LOL! I've followed Dierks' career for a few years, even when I wasn't into Country Music as a whole, but I still stayed on top of what he was doing. He's the only 'star' I've ever joined their fan club, and the only one I've seen more than once in concert.

I have several good life memories tied to his music. One memory that I can think of was to "What Was I Thinking." My little brother and myself sitting at the ATM pushing in the wrong code for his card and both of us singing that song. I remember him asking me what it meant "hood sliding like Bo Duke" (he's MUCH younger than me and was clueless). Dierks is the ONE performer that my brother and I still agree on to this day, which makes long car trips much easier!

DBC Member of the Week - Spunkyboo(Marlene)

Marlene, or you might know her as Spunkyboo, is our Member of the Week from Toronto, Canada.

My favorite Dierks Bentley song is between "Come A Little Closer" and "Beautiful World".

My favorite Dierks Bentley video is without a doubt "COME A LITTLE CLOSER"!

The first time I heard the song, "What Was I Thinkin'", and saw the video - I was hooked!

"I call the radio stations are request them to play all of Dierks songs. I recruited my best friends who are pop music fans to becoming true Dierks Bentley fans. I e-mail and request different country stations to play Dierks' music."

"I've never had the honor of meeting Dierks, getting his autograph or speaking to him. Most DBC fans here have had that honor, but I'm speaking from my heart of the way I feel being a Dierks Bentley fan. I'm just honored to be a fan of his and be a member of the fantastic board."

The DBC currently consists of 527 total members!
Thanks to Marlene, Raulphotos from Michigan, and gregb511 from California for joining and supporting Dierks! Welcome to the DBC!

What is your favorite DB song? Come a Little Closer
What is your favorite DB album? Feel That Fire
What is your favorite DB music video? What was I Thinkin’

How long have you been a fan of DB? Ever since I heard that unique smooth voice on the radio. From the very first song I was hooked.

What led you to be a fan? His drive and heart for true country music that keeps getting better and better with every passing song. And not to forget his loyalty to his fans!

How do you promote Dierks? Constantly calling radio stations and request his songs, always telling friends and family about the BEST country music and needing to buy his music, and having window clings on the car so everyone knows about Dierks.

"I will and always have been a loyal true Dierks fan. Making sure that his music becomes #1 is something I have been trying to play part of since day 1 and every little bit helps. I want every fan to know that every request and anything each and every one of us can do to help support Dierks become #1 will add up and make a difference and hopefully get him to the top."

DBC MEMBER OF THE WEEK - Karissa

Karissa is from Oklahoma City and recently joined the Congress! She's been a Dierks fan ever since he came out with WWIT and says that his deep voice is what drew her in!
"After finally getting the chance to see Dierks in concert - after waiting about five hours in 100+ degree heat - I was not disappointed! I immediately bought tickets for his next show here in OK! Kenny Chesney has been my #1 for many, many, many years, but now, I'm afraid that Dierks is taking his spot!! His energy and genuine personality really make him likeable. I can't wait to see him again in September!"

Move it on over Kenny because Dierks is sliding in! (Had to say that after the little slip at this weekends show) ;)

Karissa said it wasn't easy to choose just one favorite song, but would go with "Feel That Fire."

Favorite album was another toss up and it's between Feel That Fire and Long Trip Alone.

Favorite music video was "What Was I Thinkin'."

DBC MEMBER OF THE WEEK - Katsnhouston(Linda)

Linda just joined the Congress from Houston, Tx. She has been a fan ever since "What Was I Thinkin'" came out in 2003. When Dierks is in her area, Linda carries her very own "Fake Jake" to the show! Here is Linda's story on how she got a "Fake Jake!":

"In 2003, I met Dierks in Spring Texas - he was promoting his debut album. At the time we discussed a conversation that he had with a lady bank employee regarding an overdraft at his bank while awaiting the release of "What Was I Thinkin'"". I conveyed to Dierks at the time not to worry, that he was going to do just fine, and he would make it, no doubt. Well, Dierks has MORE than arrived!! I have been raised around country music, with my deceased brother being a singer, songwriter, and published artist. I know talent when I see and hear it, and that day I saw it. Before I even walked in my front door after meeting Dierks, I received a call saying that I had won the drawing for the autographed cut-out of Jake. That helped push me over the edge, and I have been a loyal ever since."

Here's a picture of Linda's "Fake Jake!"

Linda's favorite album is Dierks' self titled album and her favorite song is "How Am I Doin'".

Thanks for joining us Linda!

Here are other members who have recently joined us making our total to be 510:
newb from Georgia
FFAGrlLvsDierks from California
dierksgirll from North Carolina
CHILLFACTOR867 from Minnesota
Stormer23 from Iowa
Congressman-Bud and MOM-NOS from New Hampshire

Thanks to all of you as well!

DBC MEMBERS OF THE WEEK - Jamie(jmleslie) & Glenda(Aussie_Glenda73)

Jamie (jmleslie)
Jamie is from Ashland, Kentucky and has been a DB fan about 3-4 years. Her favorite DB song is "Lot of Leavin' Left To Do" while Modern Day Drifter is her favorite album. Dierks' unique singing ability and his wonderful, caring personality is what led Jamie to become a fan. She promotes Dierks at concerts and by telling folks how he cares about his fans and that he always goes out of his way to treat them kindly more than any other country artist.
"I love Dierks and his music, and he is one artist who I can say that I am proud to be a fan of because he is more than just a great singer, but he is a great person!"

Glenda (Aussie_Glenda73)
Glenda is from Brisbane, Queenland Australia. She has been a fan since the very beginning. The very first video she ever saw on the Country Music Channel in Australia was Dierks’ video for “What was I Thinkin'” and from that moment she was hooked. She became a fan of Dierks instantly because of his music and style. Listening to his music always manages to make her smile, but these days it is about so much more than just his music.
"Dierks is such a wonderful down to earth guy, who really cares about people. He is so kind and generous to his fans and is really appreciative of their support. His fans return his kindness by supporting him 100%. He is the complete package – a great songwriter, a great singer and an all round nice guy. I would love to meet Dierks in person one day and with any luck my wish is a step closer to becoming a reality thanks to the DB Congress Fanclub."
Glenda promotes Dierks on online social networks, requests his video on Australia's Country Music Channel, and requests songs on radio everyday. She also talks endlessly to her friends about how awesome he is and encourages them to check out dierks.com and listen to his music.

Thanks ladies for your support and for promoting our President! Welcome to the greatest Congress there is...the DB Congress!

DBC MEMBER OF THE WEEK - Jennifer(JenniferLynn)

Jennifer is one of our newest DBC members who represents Illinois. She's been a long time fan like myself and many of you! Her favorite DB song and album both have the same title: Long Trip Alone.

So what led Jennifer to become a Dierks fan? Here's what she said:
"I've been a fan since 2003 when LWTT (What Was I Thinkin'?) came out on the radio. I love Dierks' down-to-earth personality, it really appeals to me. His love for his dogs really is sweet and I can definitely relate - I feel the same way about my Shebby (she likes Dierks too!) Also, my boyfriend surprised me with Dierks tickets in 2007 at Joe's on Weed St. - Dierks just cut his hair and he looked so adorable! That was my 3rd Dierks concert and I've gone to every single concert in the Chicagoland area ever since! I am also a die-hard NASCAR fan and I love that Dierks also follows the sport and is a fan of some of the favorites (Kasey Kahne and Dale Jr.) This year Dierks performed in Daytona and ever since then, the NASCAR broadcast plays music from Dierks new cd, Feel That Fire, when they are coming back from commercial or going to commercial. It's great because I also get my Dierks fix while watching my favorite sport!!! One more point, I met Dierks last year at Country Thunder USA in Twin Lakes, WI and I was so nervous. I was shaking and in tears that I didn't know what to say or do. I've never been the type to make a fool out of myself and stumble around artists/celebrities but boy o' boy did I sure make a moron out of myself. Dierks was so sweet and gracious, though. He made me feel so comfortable and that is another reason why I love Dierks and his music!"
Jennifer promotes Dierks Bentley through Facebook and Myspace pages. She calls the local radio station (US99.5) daily to request Dierks songs. She encourages friends, family and co-workers to listen to his music and buy his cds, and she votes repeatedly on CMT. Jennifer said that she also sings Dierks' songs to her dog, Shelby, every day. Shelby loves it even though the boyfriend really doesn't like her music voice!

Jennifer said that she is a genuine DIERKS BENTLEY fan who is willing to do anything (within reason) to promote Dierks and see his music played more often and get him the recognition he deserves (CMT and ACM awards, etc.) Dierks deserves to win those awards because he truly is a unique artist and there is nobody like him in country music. She thinks this (and his down to earth personality) is why fans LOVE him so much!
"I truly enjoy being a part of the Dierks Bentley fan club and the DB Congress. I just love listening to Dierks' music and seeing him perform live. His voice, music, and personality really speak to my heart."

Welcome to THE Congress Jennifer and glad you're here!

DBC MEMBER OF THE WEEK - Rach(toohey)

Rach joins us from Dubbo, NSW, Australia, which is about 5 hours west of Sydney. She has been a long time DB fan since December 2004. She said she moved home to the country from Sydney, hooked up pay TV that included the Country Music Channel and watched her first DB video - "What Was I Thinkin'?" When MDD was released Rach went to the local music store to buy it. She was pleasantly surprised that they had Dierks in stock because she lives in a small country town.
Rach said, "I drive a LOT with my job, and it's GREAT driving music."

What led Rach to become a DB fan?
"His relateable songs make me laugh, cry, yell, love, but basically they make me smile," Rach answered.

She has told as many work collegues as she can to log on to www.dierks.com to watch the video clip of Dierks driving in Sydney. She said it worked until they crashed the system yesterday! Try explaining that to the IT department! Rach said that she has written to Rob Potts Entertainment, Australian promoter, yesterday to ask him what she needed to do to help get Dierks back to Australia. She said she would gladly take guidance and instruction since she is new to promoting.

Rach said it was a week of 1st's for her - 1st DB concert, meeting Dierks for the 1st time, and Dierks' 1st time in Australia! She got to meet some new mates that have welcomed her into the Dierks family both in Australia and internationally!

She quoted Dierks - "Good things happen when you're around." Rach said that good things happened to her last week while Dierks was around! Everyone has told her how happy she looked, but says she puts it down to the positive vibe of Dierks! Rach said that being DBC member of the week would allow her to thank Dierks again for coming all the way to Australia, for making the effort, and being away from his family(that's tough). Rach says that it was appreciated that Dierks, Chris, and the band made it all the way to Australia!
"My shout for a free beer next time you are here!", Rach says to Dierks!

Rach's Top 5 DB Songs:
Settle For A Slowdown
Feel That Fire
Good Things Happen
Pray
I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes

Rach's Fav DB Albums:
"Modern Day Drifter followed very closely by Feel That Fire."

Thanks Rach! Loved hearing from you! Welcome to the DB Congress!!
