PRIMARY CAMPAIGN: VOTE DIERKS FOR CMT NOMINEE

Dierks Bentley has a lot going on! A new single, a new radio show, a new Up On The Ridge bluegrass tour--just to name a few. And the DB Congress has a lot of priorities to help promote our president right now. But let's not lose focus on a primary campaign that needs our attention! We still need to vote for Dierks to get him to the final four round of nominees for "Performance of the Year" for the 2010 CMT Music Awards for his "Sideways" performance on the 2009 CMT Music Awards.

Voting ends May 3, so pull out all the stops! Get all your email addresses, and your friends and family and to gather their email addresses and let's get Dierks Bentley on the list of nominees!

HAPPY SIDEWAYS DAY

"I Saw the Sideways video this morning on Aussie CMC TV!" exclaims Rach from Australia. "It's so good to finally dance in my loungeroom (I think that's like a living room in the US) to this great song."

The previous DB Congress Member of the Week is doing her congressional duty and promoting Dierks Bentley--especially on Fridays when the country music video countdowns of the week begin. "On most emails I sent on Friday to my work colleagues, I started with 'Happy Sideways Day.' I then asked people to go listen to the song, as it was Dierks tribute to Fridays! I think we could really reclaim Fridays as Sideways day," Rach declares.

After all, the lyrics demand it--worked all week it's time to play, gonna get a little bit sideways.

Just a few years ago, I used to dub Thursdays as "Dierksday Thursday" because that was when the video countdowns revealed their top 20 country music videos of the week. Now, CMT and GAC and CMC in Australia countdown the top videos of the week on Fridays, based on fan votes. That's where we need your help!

Vote for Dierks' Sideways video in the U.S. on CMT Top 20, CMT Pure 12-Pack and GAC Top 20. This week the video landed at #11 on CMT20, and finally debuted at #14 on GAC! Thank you DB Congress! Please urge all your family and friends to vote for Dierks this week and let's get him into the single digits, and make a showing on CMT Pure 12-Pack!

SIDEWAYS SOARS TO TOP TEN STATUS

Just ten weeks on the charts, Dierks Bentley's single, "Sideways" lands in the #10 position. No other single by Bentley has dared to rise so fast! This makes his #12 single, and the 11th to reach the top ten status (My Last Name peaked at #17).

Sideways is also currently listed on The Billboard Hot 100 at #60.

I like a couple of Dierks Bentley songs and I cannot honestly say that I am a HUGE fan of Dierks. I am also a HUGE Country Music fan and normally this Country Song is NOT my type or style of Country Music but I have to honestly admit that this song is pretty catchy. I'm starting to REALLY like it!! :)

WOW! This is probably the coolest music video I've seen in my life! I love how it's country but has the hip hop (one of my other fave genres of music) dancing! Gotta love Dierks, I've yet to hear one song of his that I didn't like =)

This man makes me wanna wear my blue jeans and white tank top ALL THE TIME!!!!! AWESOME SONG!!!!

This video was #16 on the CMT Top 20 last week, but didn't make the other 2 countdowns! We need your help DB Congress! With 470 reps--we should be making a bigger impact on these on these lists! UPDATE: Sideways, the video, not only lands at #10 on the Billboard Chart, but also at #10 on the CMT Top 20 Countdown week ending May 8th! GREAT JOB VOTING, DB Congress!

SIDEWAYS VIDEO LAUNCHES VIA ITUNES

Dierks Bentley's new Sideways video is now available for only $1.99 at iTunes. Although the norm is to have video previews available for his fan club first, currently, only a 30-second preview is showing for members on dierks.com. Dierks explains his rationale for the change in a personal response to his fan club journal commenters:

"cool...thanks for the comments!...fyi, i wish the video was making its debut for free here on dierks.com but there was a cool opportunity for us to do something exclusive with itunes...we get a ton of exposure at the itunes homepage...as soon as the week long itunes exclusive period ends, we will have it up on the site. i know times are tough...usually we would make the video available here (dierks.com for fan clubbers) first for free, but this was a great chance to team up with itunes and bring some more attention to the video. thanks....d"

I think Dierks always trys to find ways to go above and beyond for the fan club members (recently renaming us DB Congress is one example), and this one time the video does not debut "first" for us won't kill us. Plus, anything that gives him more exposure is a really good thing!

DB '09 TOWN HALL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

Thanks to Fiona, here are a few highlights from last night's online Town Hall Meeting :

* The Sideways video will be up on iTunes on April 14th.
* Last Call Ball will be on June 10th
* Dierks is reading Twilight (this shocked me)
* Dierks says he is enjoying being a dad and Evie is about to turn 6 months old
* Dierks hasn't played any pranks of Brad Paisley but he says he is looking for a weak link in Brad's organization to help him out
* Cassidy loves the songs "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes" and "Beautiful World"
* Dierks decided to change the name of the fan club to "DB Congress" and gave shout-outs to Ronna, David (and his flag!), Mona, and Tara for her bracelets.
* Dierks is excited to go to Australia and wants to meet Stacey while he is there!
* Dierks is not a fan of Twitter
