"I Hold On” Earns Gold Certification in the USA and Canada; Dierks Celebrates

Dierks, Headline Country Producer Mary Carlisle, Brett James

Dierks driving “I Hold On” has officially been certified GOLD in the US by the RIAA for digital sales of over 500,000 downloads and simultaneously received GOLD certification by the CRIA in Canada. Released on Capitol Records Nashville, RISER’s lead track set the pace recently topping both radio charts, becoming Bentley’s 11th career No. one single as both a singer and songwriter.

Dierks Bentley and veteran songwriter Brett James celebrated their co-penned number one single "I Hold On" at Pour House in Nashville Tuesday (4/2/14.)
"It was our first time writing together, we weren't trying to hit one over the fence, we were just being honest, talking about our lives, and our things we believe in. I get goose bumps even talking about it right now, because its not supposed to work that way.  Usually its a grind the first time, and this is one of those song that it's just once in a career that you get a song that just happens like that."
Watch the video clip here.

Watch "Headline Country" on GACTV May 8th for more footage from the bash and more of their interview with the pair.

Life Finds A Way For The Grascals & Dierks Bentley

Bluegrass greats, The Grascals, posted on their facebook wall on Wednesday that they were, "tickled to learn that the song "Life Finds A Way" (the title cut from our new CD on Mountain Home) is the #1 song on the Bluegrass Today chart. Thanks to everyone that is playing it!"

Dierks Bentley fans will find the song especially sweet since he helped write it.  Country Standard Time confirms, "the album still finds the band is digging its collective teeth into composing as they co-wrote 5 of the 13 songs including the title cut with help from Dierks Bentley."

Long time friends, Dierks and The Grascals have been featured on each others albums over the last several years, such as Prodigal Son's Prayer on DB's Long Trip Alone Album, and Folsom Prison Blues on The Grascals Cracker Barrell project--The Grascals & Friends – Country Classics With A Bluegrass Spin.

Don't miss the CD release party for "Life Finds A Way," airing on GACTV Saturday, 4/21 at 9:30 am central.

DBTV - Episode 49: Dierks' New Year's Day Lake Jump Debacle 2012

Ryan "Flash" Silver (aka Camera Guy) thought he was filming boss Dierks Bentley's annual lake jump on New Year's day but something went terribly wrong.  When he tried to blame it on technology, Dierks wasn't settling for that.  Instead, he held Ryan accountable like any good boss.

Happy New Year!

DB DVR Alert - GACTV's "The Music Inside - Waylon Jennings: Breaking the Myth"

I remember waiting for Dierks Bentley on a cold Thursday night in March 2009 by his bus after he performed at Wild Bill's in Atlanta, Georgia. When he finally appeared, he was gracious as always and signed autographs and took pictures with about 20 fans. What I remembered most is that he told us he had to get on the bus and get back to Nashville because the next day he was going to see Jessi Colter. The excitment in his eyes and voice and smile on his face, was undeniable.

Jessi Colter, Waylon Jennings widow, is the woman behind 'The Music Inside: A Collaboration Dedicated to Waylon Jennings, Vol. 1' which was released February 8, 2011. Volume 2 is scheduled for a June 14 release, the day before what would have been Waylon's 74th birthday. Volume 3 is slated to be unveiled in fall 2011, the day prior to Waylon and Jessi's 42nd wedding anniversary.

While Dierks is not included in Volume 1, he is slated for a slot in an  upcoming Volume in the series.

GACTV is airing a special, "The Music Inside - Waylon Jennings: Breaking the Myth," several times this weekend starting tonight at 9 pm.  The show follows the making of a tribute album to one of the greatest country music icons of our time. Artists as varied as Kris Kristofferson, Alabama, Jamey Johnson, Dierks Bentley, Randy Houser, Pat Green, and Jennings' widow Jessi Colter perform and pay tribute to Waylon's most celebrated songs. Alabama lead singer Randy Owens says "What an opportunity for us to go back in the studio, play and record live like we used to, and pay tribute to a TRUE legend in music...not in country music...in music period."

CLOSE YOUR EYES VIDEO LANDS ON TOP 20

Good news! I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes finally landed in the Top 20 videos on GACTV this week at #20! On CMT's Top 20, the newest Dierks Bentley video came in at #16 for a second week, but was a no show on the CMT Pure 12-pack.

We are 559 DB Congress reps strong and it's gonna take an act of congress all working together to make this video rise to the top! Realistically, I know everyone has a life outside of Dierks, but I also know how much his music means to each of the DBC reps--all 559 of us! So, I need some help getting 100% participation on a daily basis.

It really does only take less than 5 minutes of your day to vote for the 3 video countdowns and another 30 seconds to call your local radio station every day.

So, I need your help in giving me ideas to get everyone -- all 559 -- involved for 5 minutes every day. Whoever has the best idea will win a prize!

Leave your comments now or email me at Ronna@dbcongress.com.

We can do this for our president! He has given us so much! We did it for Long Trip Alone (#1 on the video countdown 3 weeks in a row), and we can do it again!

DANCING NOT IN THE STARS FOR DIERKS

I think it's been mentioned before that Dierks was asked to be on the very first episode of Dancing With The Stars. We all know he didn't accept the offer, but now GACTV.com tells us exactly what he told them...

June 2, 2009 — Chuck Wicks, Julianne Hough and Billy Ray Cyrus have all participated in "Dancing With The Stars," but there are a number of country stars who’ve nixed the idea, too. LeAnn Rimes passed because she was too busy, Trace Adkins said no because he wasn’t interested, and Dierks Bentley turned it down because he’d rather do what he does best.

"There’s a reason why I play guitar," Dierks told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "I have no dance moves. I was asked to be on the first season of ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ and whether I wanted to or not, it was like, ‘Ah, sorry. There’s just no hope for me. I don’t care if you get the best trainer in the world.’ There’s a reason why I picked up the guitar to meet girls: Dancing was never gonna work. I do a really bad version of ‘The Running Man,’ but after that, it’s pretty bad."

HAPPY SIDEWAYS DAY

"I Saw the Sideways video this morning on Aussie CMC TV!" exclaims Rach from Australia. "It's so good to finally dance in my loungeroom (I think that's like a living room in the US) to this great song."

The previous DB Congress Member of the Week is doing her congressional duty and promoting Dierks Bentley--especially on Fridays when the country music video countdowns of the week begin. "On most emails I sent on Friday to my work colleagues, I started with 'Happy Sideways Day.' I then asked people to go listen to the song, as it was Dierks tribute to Fridays! I think we could really reclaim Fridays as Sideways day," Rach declares.

After all, the lyrics demand it--worked all week it's time to play, gonna get a little bit sideways.

Just a few years ago, I used to dub Thursdays as "Dierksday Thursday" because that was when the video countdowns revealed their top 20 country music videos of the week. Now, CMT and GAC and CMC in Australia countdown the top videos of the week on Fridays, based on fan votes. That's where we need your help!

Vote for Dierks' Sideways video in the U.S. on CMT Top 20, CMT Pure 12-Pack and GAC Top 20. This week the video landed at #11 on CMT20, and finally debuted at #14 on GAC! Thank you DB Congress! Please urge all your family and friends to vote for Dierks this week and let's get him into the single digits, and make a showing on CMT Pure 12-Pack!

So, Rach, please post and let us know what number Sideways is on CMC TV this week!
