"If you've ever tasted something so delicious for the first time and didn't ever want the flavor to end, that's how I felt about seeing Dierks Bentley. I was actually surprised at how many songs I recognized in his almost 1 hour set. It was like putting one of those delicious carbonated fizz candies in your mouth (I like them, anyway) and the thrill just kept going and going and going. Yes, a bit like the Energizer Bunny -- but more along the lines of watching Tigger, in all his glory, doing what he loves to do best, non-stop! Hands down, Dierks was my best surprise of the night. He doesn't play the guitar as much as Jimmy or Brad, BUT his enthusiasm, love for the crowd and never-ending charming energy more than make up for any guitar playing. As Dierks would start bouncing down each of the 3 catwalks, his effervescent blue eyes immediately scanned and searched the eyes of the crowds that awaited him.
I couldn't tell which was brighter -- his smile or his eyes. Both showed he wanted to be nowhere else but right there, in that moment, as if he'd been waiting for it all day long.Of course, having him literally grab hold of your forearm and sing a few lines straight to you, while your eyes are locked together, does a lot to help a person come to that conclusion. :) From my perspective, it did seem that every single person that wanted a hand slap, hand shake or some other simple type of acknowledgement, was satisfied at least once. Dierks has gained a new fan. The person voted "Most Engaging & Overall Entertaining" from this show ... Dierks Bentley."
